Summary

Remote karst valley located at the footstep of the Northeast Mountain range, the Đông Bắc, 100km from Hanoi in rural and traditional area.

Description

Quality sport routes dispatched on 9 crags within a radius of 5km. Most represented grades are in a solid 6b-7c range. Assorted limestone climbing including tufas, huecos, slopers and others delicacies on vertical and steep profiles. All equipped in Inox 316.

Access issues

Cliffs are located in private orchards or lands. Be careful of crops. All access conditions are centralized and monitored by VietClimb, the local climbing club of Hanoi.

Approach

About 2.5 hours from Hanoi. To get there, motorbike or private car are the best options. To come back to Hanoi, public transportation is possible: 1 bus / day from 8.30 to 9.30 am, timetable to be checked the day before with Mao. Bus pick up: Diễn hamlet market place, Yên Thịnh village, Hữu Lũng district, Lạng Sơn province.

Where to stay

Mão's Homestay, located from 1 to 5km from the crags, a community-project to improve living conditions of farmers in vulnerable areas. Alternative option is trucker's hourly motel on the National Road AH1, about 1 hour from crags on bumpy roads.

Ethic

All local access with orchards' owners, Commune and District authorities arranged by VietClimb. Every climber is required to stay at Mao's homestay, a local family, and contact VietClimb to book their stay, signal their presence, inquire about the latest updates and get a briefing.
