Sandstone climbing in beautiful desert surrounds.

Beschreibung

San Pedro de Atacama is in the far north of Chile, near the Bolivian border. Most tourists come to this area for the salt flats near the border on both sides, but plenty of opportunities exist for climbing and hiking too.

Einschränkungen

Locals may be hostile to climbing in this area, particularly near Tocanao. Please keep a low profile, pack out all trash and be respectful of the wishes of locals.

Zustieg

San Pedro de Atacama can be accessed by bus on the route 5 from any of the major cities south. It can also be accessed from Bolivia, normally as part of a salt flats tour.

Übernachtung

Many hostels exist in San Pedro de Atacama. Tocanao can easily be accessed as a day trip, however camping is advised if climbing at Socaire

Ethik

Both sport and trad climbing are prevalent here. Please consult with the locals before attempting to add any new routes.

La mejor zona en Antofagasta y que concentra la mayoría de las rutas y varios boulders, fue descubierta hace unos años por Luis Castro.

Beschreibung

El sector de escalada Roca Roja está a 13 kilómetros de la ciudad. Se puede llegar fácilmente por la Ruta 1 hacia el sector sur de Antofagasta, luego se debe tomar el desvío hacia Roca Roja por la Ruta B-510. En vehículo particular desde la ciudad son alrededor de 25 minutos.

Botar basura, utilizar de baño.

Zustieg

Hasta el sector se puede llegar en bicicleta en 1 hora. También es posible usar la locomoción pública con TransAntofagasta número 102 en dirección hasta Coloso, o también cualquier locomoción que llegue al sector el Huáscar y caminar aproximadamente 15 minutos al sector de Roca Roja, tardando entre 30 y 40 minutos en total.

Übernachtung

Al ser una zona cercana a la ciudad no es necesario acampar dentro de la misma zona de escalada.

Ethik

En la periferia de la zona de escalada es utilizada como basural, y dentro de la cueva es utilizado como baño. Por lo tanto, ser responsable con sus desechos naturales y llevar su propia basura, además de mantener el ambiente limpio.

Descubierta hace unos años por Luis Castro y equipada por escaladores locales y externos a la ciudad, además del equipo de Escalada de la Universidad Católica del Norte y el equipo de Gecko Boulder y de escaladores independientes.

Zustieg

Para llegar al punto de escalada se debe tomar la ruta que va camino a Juan Lopez, Luego de pasar la segunda gruta (monolito por accidente) se encuentra el estacionamiento de servicio el cual sirve como referencia para orillarse al costado izquierdo, en frente se ve un bloque que sobresale. Para bajar a la costa, se debe tomar como referencia el bloque sobresaliente y caminar 10 mts. aproximadamente hasta encontrar una fisura entre dos bloques de arenisca el cual permite bajar sin mayor dificultad.

Ethik

Zona cercana a la reserva La Portada, por lo tanto, considerar que es una zona la cual alberga fauna, principalmente aves y reptiles.

El lugar como spot de escalada está prácticamente virgen… se conoce muy poco. Hay muchos boulders por todos lados (muchos por crear y desarrollar). Zustieg

Se puede acceder en cualquier tipo de vehículos, desde automóviles corrientes, autos chicos, furgonetas, hasta 4X4. Para ir a los boulders que están frente al mar, se puede ir por la misma Ruta 5, antes de llegar al Zoo (como 3 km), entrando por Caleta Los Patos (está señalizado). Es un camino de tierra, hay que seguirlo -verán un cultivo de abalones- hasta llegar al mar.

MURO DE ESCALADA En el muro puedes encontrar rutas marcadas en diferentes colores que señalan diversos grados de dificultad, para que el escalador pueda progresar.

ÁREA DE ENTRENAMIENTO FÍSICO El área de entrenamiento físico es el espacio para potenciar la fuerza muscular y las actividades cardiovasculares. Puedes utilizar las bicicletas estáticas, las cuerdas para saltar, los TRX y las barras de calistenia.

ÁREA DE ELONGACIÓN Y RELAJACIÓN Antes y después de empezar la actividad física debes elongar y preparar las articulaciones para el trabajo físico. El área de elongación es ideal para ello.

Geschichte

Gecko Boulder comienza como un proyecto de 4 amigos: Gemma Sendra, Jorge Estañaro, Javiera Pirce, Ricardo Rodriguez, con la intención de entregar al norte un gimnasio de escalada de nivel. Su construcción comienza en Septiembre del 2018.

La intención de formar comunidad dentro del deporte y entregar un servicio de excelencia a sido el pilar fundamental desde sus inicios. Acompáñanos en esta aventura, únete a Gecko Boulder.

Zustieg

Deberán llegar a la plaza de Putaendo, pueblo que se encuentra a unos 15 kms al norte de San Felipe. Desde la plaza de Putaendo hasta la zona de escalada hay 26,5 kms. Desde la plaza de Putaendo hay que dirigirse a Cabildo, el cual es un único camino que se mete a una cuesta con una gran cantidad de curvas. La zona de escalada está en el lecho de un rio que se encuentra en la orilla norte del camino. Hay una gran cantidad de sitios de estacionamiento. En la foto podrán ver donde estacionarse y las coordenadas de google earth para llegar. Desde el estacionamiento hay que bajar al lecho del rio que no son más de 5 minutos de bajada.

This is one of the easiest and shortest approached crags in Chile. It has many good lines of sport climbing routes in conglomerate rock.

Beautiful setting with many well bolted sport routes.

Beschreibung

Known as "El Bosque Mágico" (The Magical Forest), this area is beautiful. The base of the cliff is well shaded, making it comfortable to climb even on the hottest summer days. The rock is basalt and the routes tend to be more technical than physical. The routes are all bolted to modern standards and there are a range of difficulties, ranging from 5.6 to 5.13s and up. The area can get quite busy on the weekends and afternoons but will be quieter during the week and mornings.

Closed at the moment. On private land. They used to charge you but not anymore. Please respect the land by packing out all your trash, (also the toilet paper) and use only the main trail. and

Zustieg

Take the road Camino del Cajón until the pavement ends and park here, roughly at S33.333284, W70.462260 . From here walk further along the dirt road until a gated, private dirt road branches off to the right. Follow this through the gate until you reach a dry river bed. On the left is a stone lined path. Take this until you reach the crag.

Independiente de donde vengas, puedes tomar la Gran Vía, calle que bordea las faldas del cerro que conforma el Barrio Lo Curro.

Desde la Gran Vía se debe tomar la “Vía Roja” la cual deberás seguir hasta donde prácticamente se acaba y estacionar tu auto en la vereda norte. Si lo dejas en la vereda sur seguro te sacaran un parte.

Seguir caminando hacia arriba y aparece un camino hacia el cerro (camino peatonal), justa antes de un portón verde. Desde ahí directo hacia arriba, primero caminando al borde de una pandereta algo derruida y luego un camino bastante parado hasta la roca… no son más de 10 minutos de subida.

Geschichte

Este sector es uno de los más antiguos de Chile, y por años desconocido a la vez. Pero renace por la motivación de dos equipadores (Sergio Guzmán y Lucho Birkner) que equipan una gran cantidad de nuevas vías transformando este lugar en un magnifico lugar cercano a Santiago. Pero no ha quedado así hace un par de semanas se han equipado un par de vías más y se amenaza con seguir equipando y haciendo crecer el lugar.

Valle de los condores is one of the best crags in Chile, with 100s of routes and potential for many many more. Both sport and trad climbing can be found here on solid basalt.

Einschränkungen

Don´t get the car to the camping ground. The crag can be difficult to access with busses stopping 30km before the valley. You must have a car or hitch hike to access.

Zustieg

Catch the bus from Talca to La Mina hot springs. From here its 30kms more up the hill.

Übernachtung

Camping is possible in the valley, but only in front of 'La Gran Pared', 'Pared Talca' or 'El Salto'. It is Absolutely NOT allowed camping in the other side of the river as the owner stipulated. Bring everything as there are no facilities or shops here.

Ethik

Take all the rubbish back with you! Toilet paper and cigarette stub too. Please respect the flora and fauna of the place. Don´t make fire in places which are not for it. Both Sport bolting and trad climbing exist, contact the local community before bolting or adding new routes.

From Pucon way to Caburga a few kilometers past the airport Pucon (almost leaving Pucon) found a sign on the right hand signaled to the Cerduo and a dirt road 7 exact kms is the rock by hand right. In any case the site has been enhanced for tourism so find a lot of signs which signals to the climbing area. There are two sectors, starting right hand equipped in the summer of 2012 which has three tracks and the other classic, is about 200 meters over the road where most roads are one.

It is important that the place is private land and the owner charged for passing scalar price has changed over time but not exceeding two thousand pesos per person. It is possible to camp in the same place or qualified to do so by the owner sector.

Beschreibung

Cochamo has the biggest granite walls in South America and is often referred to as the Yosemite of South America. Epic multi pitch climbing awaits, often with long approaches and an alpine feel. Whilst some sport climbing exists, you're here for trad multis.

Einschränkungen

The crags and camping are all on private land. Land owners do restrict access times and charge camping fees, but all are reasonable. Can get extremely busy over the January and February holidays. Be sure to reserve your stay especially during those months at www.cochamo.com.

Zustieg

Take the bus to Cochamo town from Puerto Varas, beware only a few busses a day follow this route. From the bridge just after Puerto Varas you will find the walking track to La Junta. Follow this for about 4 hours until you reach La Junta camping. All climbing information can be found here.

Übernachtung

Many camping sites exist around the La Junta area, although the traditional climbers camping is simply called Camping La Junta. They also run a hostel just across the river.

Ethik

Mostly trad big walls, though 50 cragging routes also exist. Contact with the climbers working at Camping La Junta about opening new routes.

Geschichte

Cochamo has a relatively young history. Though other climbers had visited the valley, the first climbers, Crispin Waddy and his partner, macheted for days to open a trail to the base of the Trinidad wall in 1997 and established the first route.
