Ascent in Africa by Iain Allan having trad-cpr or ascent-date

I made the first free ascent of Andromeda in 1977 with Greg Mortimer. It was the second ascent of the route. We eliminated all aid up to the start of the final pitch. From here Greg ignored the original aid pitch leading out rightwards, and made an incredible lead directly up the head wall above the belay. Having climbed in Kenya for 45 years I believe that Andromeda might be one of the most serious routes in the country. Iain Allan
