Eastern areas Guide

A Crag Guide gives an extensive view of all sub areas and climbs at a point in the index. It shows a snapshot of the index heirachy, up to 300 climbs (or areas) on a single web page. It shows selected comments climbers have made on a recently submitted ascent.

At a minor crag level this should be suitable for printing and taking with you on a climbing trip as an adjunct to your guidebook.

This guide was generated anonymously. Login to show your logged ascents against each route.

1.1. Swamp Boulders 75 routes in Area

Summary:
All Bouldering

Lat / Long: -30.476232, 150.935951

description

Home to the one of the sweetest problems found thus far at Beulah, "Swamp Thing" a sweet high problem up wicked features and the higher you go the easier it gets.

Boulder are (or should be) listed from roughly close to the car park first, and then down the hill towards the 'Swamp boulder'.

To Get There:

Follow the road east from the Donger. Watch for the sign on your left. Go left at the sign and follow the rough road to a creek crossing. Check the crossing first for depth of water and whether or not your vehicle will make it through.

By car or foot cross the creek and follow the road, go through a gate and continue east. Watch for another sign on the right and follow slashed trail to the Boulders.

NOTE:

As of April 1st, 2012 the access to the Swamp Boulders in now 150m further east along the main road. Please use this as the old access is too wet and the new trail is high, dry, and has ample parking. You park near the top of the hill and right next to the park is 'John Quilkins' and near 'Strongbow Original' .

1.4. Rolled Quad Boulders 129 routes in Area

Summary:
Mostly Bouldering

Lat / Long: -30.478991, 150.940695

description

This area was almost the first area discovered at Beulah. Almost. However on that fateful day, we rolled the quad, almost broke a wrist and called it a day. Finally went back to continue searching on the evening before the 5th Annual 5 years later!

To Get There:

Follow the road east from the Donger. Watch for the "Swamp" sign on your left. Go left at the sign and follow the rough road to a creek crossing. Check the crossing first for depth of water and whether or not your vehicle will make it through.

By car or foot cross the creek and follow the road, go through a gate and continue east. Continue passed the sign for the "Swamp Boulders", continue passed "Sheep Shit Rock" following the road east. Just after Sheep Shit the road will turn left, but stay heading east along the slashed trail through the grass. When the slashing ends at a gate park here, hop the fence and head southeast across a creek and into the boulders.

The boulders continue scattered up hill and along the creek for about 1.5km, so there is a lot to explore still.

Most of the boulders, roughly at the same altitude along a contour from the north east starting with the 'Castle Tops', snaking with the creek to the south west ending near 'Wall-e'. When you walk in you'll probably find yourself somewhere in the middle around the 'Monkey boulder'.

Summary:
All Bouldering

Lat / Long: -30.474636, 150.942574

description

A group of boulders close to the north boundary between Beulah and Warrabah station. Some climbers were working some problems here at the 5th Annual, but nothing has appeared in the guide.

There is one very, very steep line that faces due north, about 15m away from the boundary fence. Looks very hard.

approach

From the Donger head east and when you see the sign to "Swamp Boulders", head left and keep heading east. Keep left when the trail heads to the right to the Swamp, go passed "Sheep Shit Rock" and head towards the "Rolled Quad Boulders".

When the slashed trail heads east and the faint dual track takes a left (north) follow the faint dual track until it ends about 600m later at a gate with Private on it.

Park here, and you should see the boulders to the east over a fence that is still Beulah when you go over it.

Do not cross the fence to the north, as it is Private Property.
