Description

Large roof boulders and scattered boulders across river from Mackas Bluff. A morning climbing area (if crossing river from Mackas Bluff rather than walking down from hydro station or paddling) as the water levels rise in the afternoon from power station discharge.

Access issues inherited from Cairns

Be wary at any coastal or riverside crags for the potential of crocodiles and if you're in the water marine stingers.

Approach

Not too long, walk across river boulder hopping or take the scrambly route down from the hydro station on the Shady Wall side of river (walk above Shady wall, be careful). With low water levels you can just walk across the river.

Ethic inherited from Barron Gorge

Brush holds. Respect veg as much as possible, wildlife and rock.

Start on the left side of the fridge feature with right hand on the arete and left hand on the good undercling. Do a big move before moving right via a toehook on the far right arete. Finish as for Tombstone.

Traverse from low right end of crack at slopey sit start, follow opening in crack where vine allows hands to use holds. Fine footwork to high ledge, veering up and left to high topout.
