Description

The Island Boulder is the large block with two proud aretes which from the front somewhat looks like the map of Tasmania

Access issues inherited from The Gorge - Bouldering

Especially with all bouldering located on the main tracks, please be very courteous to walkers. It is your responsibility to move pads out of the way of all walkers and passers by, do not ask walkers to step over your pads. Access to bouldering in the gorge is a privilege so please treat it as such and represent the climbing community in a positive and friendly way.

Approach

This is one of the first boulders you get to when walking into Dewsworld, however it isn't immediately visible when looking downstream.

Classic looking hanging arete on the left hand of the Island Boulder. Start as low as possible and follow the arete to the top. Open Project for anyone strong to test themselves on

The main face of the Island boulder might just have enough features to be climbable

Sit start with left hand on the vertical crimp and right hand on the very bottom of the large sidepull, make a hard move or two to the lip and up from there. Avoid the sharp jug far out right under the rooflet.

Low start to Secret Hideaways, the holds are there.

Great compression line on the back of the Island Boulder. Start right hand on a good horizontal crimps above head height and left hand on the good pinch.
