Description

Fountain Springs is a picturesque body of water located in Outback Queensland near Mount Isa. It is a popular swimming and picnic area.

There is potential to set up some decent lead climbs out of the gorge the rock quality is good for Mount Isa standards, however this would require a lot of work.

Approach

There are two main routes to access Fountain Springs from Mount Isa, one of which is extremely rugged and requires a fully equipped four wheel drive.

The nearest accommodation is in the township of Mount Isa, where there are a range of accommodation options.

This climb is located in the alcove west of the gorge short walk from water hole no bolts exist.

This route is located on the western face of the first wide opening of the gorge. 12mm stainless top rope bolts have been placed. access to top rope bolts either by climbing the main waterfall face then around to the left or by hiking up and around western side of gorge.
