Description

The Titanic boulder is a large prow shaped boulder with the best problems at 'Cedar Creek'. There are more boulders on either side.

Access issues inherited from Cedar Creek

Rainfall/Flooding/Raised Water Levels

'Cedar Creek' is prone to flash flooding after heavy rainfall and general flooding or regular high water levels during/after rainfall which significantly impacts access to boulders and areas.

Check local community pages if unsure.

Private Property

Toward the end of Cedar Creek Rd are several private properties inaccessible to the public. Ensure no gates are passed (even if open).

Approach

About 5-10 minutes upstream from the main waterfall, 'Cedar Creek' turns a corner and steepens. The 'Titanic Area' boulders are on the left bank (facing upstream).

Ethic inherited from Cedar Creek

'Cedar Creek' has been in the news due to its popularity with the public; namely rubbish and conflicts with landowners. As climbers we must set an example for ourselves:

  • Respect the landowners
  • Take your rubbish (as always)
  • Bring containers for removing public rubbish if you can
  • Do not contribute to the graffiti
  • Bring poo-bags for your crag pup

FA: Michael Garrahy, 2011

Sit start at L end of Titanic boulder face, traverse R across face and finish up prow.

Stand start at big hold on Titanic prow, out to tip of prow and top out to L. Awesomely exposed.

Hanging start under the prow, left hand on the food left sidepull jug and R slapped onto the right side of the boulder. Wrastle a few loves without being apart into the creek. Pad your landing well! Finishes straight up by stepping over the top of the prow from the face on the left.

FA: Nick Foulds & Reagen, 28 Nov

Same as prow but eliminate the letter box hold, and use just the rail.

Stand start 2 metres left of Mosstake with LH sidepull and RH undercling. Move up to ledge and then left to mantle.

Stand start on boulder just upstream of Titanic boulder. One move to mossy top out.

Sit start with small crimps directly on arete and head up small crimps on main face to the left. Top out on juggy ledge to the left.

Straight up the slab, still a bit dirty.

From Titanic boulder cross the creek and head down to the mossy boulder.
