Summary

Sisters Beach is a excellent little crag with a collection of high quality routes on quartzite.

Description

Sisters Beach is a beach in North West Tasmania which shares the same name as the nearby town. The beach has white sand and is 3 kilometres long. The original U bolts at this cliff were incorrectly installed, leading to some incidents of bolt failure. All suspect U bolts were removed and replaced in Jan 2018.

Access issues

National Park so standard permits apply.

Approach

The town of Sisters Beach is easily accessible from the Bass Highway, about 30 minutes drive West of Burnie. From the General Store, head East along a rough dirt track near the beach until it ends (1.5km, fine for 2wd). Park here and follow the Postman's Track for 100m, then turn L onto unmarked climber's track. After 5 minutes you will emerge at a small patch of scree. Up this and follow the path to the L for 50m reach Fly Buttress, or climb up and through the Keyhole, then down and L to Corruption Wall. Follow the scree down to the coast to reach Seaside Area

Ethic inherited from Tasmania

  • The operation and use of drones by park visitors on reserved land including national parks is not permitted.

  • Please note that Tasmania has notoriously patchy phone reception for particular service providers. Telstra is the most reliable. An emergency Personal Locator Beacon or similar is recommended kit when climbing in remote locations.
