Summary

The Central Buttress has some excellent long face climbing on steep walls, with bolts for protection! The rest of the climbing are old trad routes mostly established in the 1970's.

Description

This is a great crag that offers the only sport climbing in The Stirling Ranges, although it is often run-out, and extra protection may be required. There is also a multitude of easier trad routes that were established in the 1970's offering the typical Stirling adventure. A guide to the newer sport routes can be found here: http://www.climberswa.asn.au/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/trio.pdf

Access issues

Please stick to established tracks to prevent further die back infestation.

Approach

Park at the round about / carpark for Mt Trio. Take the trail up to the lookout but exit the trail about 1 minute before the end at a small cairn to your right. Follow your nose downhill until you get to the top of the cliff. It's about 45 minutes of hard hiking from the car with gear.

Access climbs by rapping down off some ring and carrot bolts along the top, or by a very awkward descent down the gully to your left as you look out.
