Famous for the Christ statue (entitled Cristo Redentor or Christ the Redeemer), Corcovado is located in the centre of Rio de Janeiro.
The south face is 450 m height and has some of the hardest routes in Rio. Corcovado doesn't see much traffic as it's long and hard.
The four areas on Corcovado are the South Face, North Face, 'Setor do K2', and the Contraforte.
"K2" is a four pitch 5.8/5.10 and is the most popular route on the formation. There is a free van from Christ the Redeemer back down to Paineiras Corcovado.
Climbable all year around but winter (April to October) is the best season. Other seasons may have rain and lightning - check the weather.
Did you know that you can create an account to record, track and share your climbing ascents? Thousands of climbers are already doing this.
