Ascents in Halton Region

Great, somewhat varied 5.6 climbing. Good pro. I wouldn't recommend rappelling from its anchors, landing the rope in water after pulling it is almost inevitable. Using an adjacent climb's anchors would be better.

Led after Keith set pro. Fun route but not much to it as a lead route.

Top-roped this after my partner led it--her first lead outdoors without a guide. We both agreed that the crux move just below the anchor makes this much harder than 5.5. The 5.5 grade is misleading, imo, because that grade this depends on KNOWING where that hidden hold is. (We didn't find it, nor did the other climbers who were there that day.) I wouldn't recommend this as a "first-ever" lead because of that; it is a perfectly fine climb up to there though.

Lead on traditional gear. Good climbing that was well protected. The holds are very polished which took away from the experience. One pin found in situ!

Roof makes for an intimidating onsight at the grade. My beta felt closer to 5.9 for one and a half moves. I'll have to go back and play with it some more.

Fun with lots of laybacks. Bring a #5 and #6 C4 for the top half or bring extra underwear for the 35-40 foot runout.

One tough move, the rest is easy.

Nice and surprisingly varied climbing for a short climb -- starts with face, then stemming in a corner, then a short hand-jam crack.

First gear is a bit high, though.

If you aren't able to find the hidden holds (? Do they even exist?), the bulge feels about 5.8.

A great beginner lead. It eats all sorts of pro and the difficulties are shorted lived. Belaying a second is difficult without building a gear anchor.

Tried the variation of the route that goes right of the tree at 5.3. Fun. Hand and fist jams. Standard rack
