The tower is split off from the back wall by a chimney, through which the hiking trail passes and which offers also the easiest way to get to the top.
The back wall offers great pocket climbs to the left and right of the similarly splendid obvious dihedral.
In the exposed south face, the routes are more alpine and often require mobile protection.

This crag is closed from February 1 until July 15. An active closure is indicated by a warning and 'closed' tag here on the site; when in doubt, signs put up at the crag have precedence!

Drive from Streitberg towards Muggendorf. Shortly after leaving the village, there is a turnoff on the left to a hiker's parking lot.
Walk up the forest road for a few meters, then turn left onto the marked hiking trail. You arrive at the foot of "Matterhornwand" after a few minutes. Turn right and follow the path for around 100 meters, passing below the base of the tower, then turn left onto a path that leads directly to the crag.

- The limestone is soft – please clean your shoes from dirt in order to avoid polished handholds and steps.
- Don't toprope directly through bolts – use your own material.
- Clean chalk and tickmarks with a brush.
- Don't leave toilet paper.
- Pick up rubbish.
- No unnecessary noise.
- No camp fire and bivvy.
- Park considerately (tractor should be able to pass also at the weekend).
- Smoking in the forests is forbidden from March 1 until October 31 by law.
- No publishing of boulder blocks.
