Description

The climbing area of the "Greifensteine" consists of 6 rocks in the recreation of area of the same name. Two of the rocks are outside the nearby outdoor-stage, while the four others are inside. The rating tends to be stout, so beware.

Access issues

Because the area of the open-air stage is privately owned, the house rules must be accepted. A climbing card must be filled in and thrown into a letterbox at the tourist information office, except for Alpine Club members.

Climbing on the four inner rocks is only allowed outside the playing and rehearsal times plus 1 hour before and after.

Approach

To get to the inner rocks, a fence at the western side of the Seekofel has to be crossed. The path is marked with access markings.

Where to stay

There are few hostels and hotels are nearby and in closer surroundings, the closest being the Youth Hostel Kurt Richter (300 m to the North) and the camping grounds around the reservoir Geyerischer Teich (1 km West).
