At the main crag, you find a great variety of styles from rude and physical climbing in the cave on the left to delicate slab climbing in the middle to some cracks on the right.
From Masouri, drive towards Emporios. Drive through Skalia village and turn right up at the junction onto the steep uphill road to Palionisos (37.04138, 26.94815). Drive to the col (about 250 m MSL), where you will find a chapel with a large cross (Saint Panormitis church).
Park across the road at the parking area on your right, where you see a sign to 'Prophitis Andreas' (37.04348, 26.95293).
To 'Prophitis Andreas' (20 min): Take the trail that goes up the small sand hill on the right and follow cairns and red paint marks. The trail climbs up to the col of the ridge, where it passes an old stone wall. The crag is behind, on the Skalia side of the pass. It will be shorter then it seems and you will comfortably reach the crag in 20 min.
Bolting of the main sector was started by André Langenbach (a French climber, part time resident in Kalymnos) and Roger Runacher, continued mainly by Luca Salsotto and Bruno Fara.
The routes on 'Elephant Slide' were mainly bolted by Joachim Friedrich and Gunter Hommel in 2013/14.
Did you know that you can create an account to record, track and share your climbing ascents? Thousands of climbers are already doing this.
