Summary

Large rock face on the Piz da Lech massif

Description

Impressive wall and very easily reachable. Many routes are visible in the wall, but only for one of them can info be found online. Careful not to miss it, the other routes are very sparsely bolted.

A good topo has been published on the website of the Rifugio Kostner: https://rifugiokostner.it/en/vallon-sport-climbing/bastionata-dei-camosci

Approach

From Corvara, take the cable car up to Piz Boè Alpine Lounge, and then the "Vallon" chairlift. From the top of the chairlift, make a right and follow the signs for Piz da Lech. After cresting a small hill, you'll see the large wall and the path below it right away.

Where to stay

Corvara or Colfosco

Nice route, well-protected for the most part, you can definitely plug in some nuts and cams if you want. The bolt spacing seems to increase towards the top, and you should be comfortable with huge run-outs in the easy sections there (8-10m).

Start marked with a small, white, oval stone glued to the wall in about 4m height. Looking up, you should be under the leftmost edge of the large yellow overhang. Be careful not to start up the wrong route!

Pitch lengths are estimated. In a guidebook, five pitches are counted, whereas we only saw four.

At the top, scramble up and right, you should see some cairns and visible paths. Do this until you encounter the hiking path to Piz da Lech, which you can then descend down to the base again. Parts of this hike are secured with a cable and some via ferrata equipment, but very easily done.
