Summary

Very sold limestone walls with a view of Tuxtla Gutiérrez. The walls are mostly north facing.

Description

It is limestone very interesting climbing and lots of new route potential, it is hard to get to the walls since the trails are kind of hidden (due to vegetation) and it is not at all obvious since you approach the walls from above. Very recomendable to get there with a local guide the first few couple of times (go to Inercia Sala de Escalada and contact Angel Chavez or Jose Carlos Ramos.

Access issues

The “Cristo de Chiapas/Copoya” lookout has an entrance fee and opening times that climbers avoid by parking outside the gates on the west entrance. You should walk down a path from this carpark.

Approach

After parking outside the gates on the west entrance walk around the fence following a trail that is hard to find due to overgrown plants. The trail will lead you down to the walls but be careful not to get lost since the trail forks are not marked.

Where to stay

Either at the Copoya town or Tuxtla Gutiérrez
