Limited DWS potential. The rock is very patchy in quality and too slabby for the most part. A pleasant place to "Do the Hoff" (V0) or for a swim on a hot summers day.

The far side of the river at Hoffmans Pool. Beware falling bombers. The rock is too poor quality and too low angle for the most part for proper DWS. Also beware of the bank underneath the water! Just right of the jump pad (left looking out from the launch pad) is too shallow. DO NOT SWIM OR CLIMB IF IN FLOOD OR WITH LOW WATER VISIBILITY.
None. Please observe alpine club guidelines.
Park at the Hoffmans Pool car park about 1.5 km up the road from the Visitor Centre (signposted) and walk down to the river (2 mins).
Gradingwise, The Kauaeranga Valley follows standard ewbank and strict V grading based on ARG and Port Hills standards, roughly:
VB = absolute beginner level bouldering V0 = 16,17 V1 = 18,19 V2 = 20,21 V3 = 22,23 And then: V grade = Ewbank - 21.
Please follow NZAC guidelines. Minimise ecological impact at all times. Additionally, the Department of Conservation has given the permission to boulder on the andesite boulders of the valley IF:
Enquire at the DOC Valley Visitor Centre if at all unsure of the application of the NZAC guidelines.
