Summary

Sport climbing on volcanic rock in an incredibly idyllic setting.

Description

A recently developed sport crag in the Ancash Region of Peru which sits at roughly 4000m elevation.

Access issues

The crag is located just over an hour north of the city of Huaraz and about 20 minutes past the turn off for the more famous but troubled Hatun Machay. A printed guide is available from Andean Kingdom in Huaraz for 5 soles.

Approach

5-30 minutes of steep hiking through beautiful alpine meadows and boulder fields. Make sure you're properly acclimatised!

Where to stay

Free camping is available on site with dry toilets and running water.

IMPORTANT Pigs and dogs in the area are known to destroy tents in search of food. Try to camp in areas inaccessible to them or cook and leave your food far from your tent.
