This area has many crags of gneiss rock.The biggest crag, and the main crag for Pohang climbers, This Gwaneum-am 관음암. It is the closest crag to Yeonsan Waterfall 연산폭포. This crag offers crack, chimney, and vertical face climbing with a couple of aid climbing routes.
Description
Approach
Buses run from Phohang 포항 to Bogyeong-sa 보경사 every hour. It takes forty minutes to reach Bogyeong-sa 보경사. From the parking lot, follow the main trail to Yeonsan Waterfall 연산폭포. You will pass a couple of waterfalls before reaching Yeonsan Waterfall 연산폭포. You can’t miss the crag though because it is next to the waterfall by the suspension bridges. The approach time will be forty minutes from the parking lot.
Descent notes
Gear 13 draws and a 60m rope. For the multi-pitch, bring 12 draws and two 50m ropes.Safety Aside from the main crag, Gwaneum-am 관음암, a few of the bolts and anchors on the rest of the crags are rusty. Also, some of the rock is a little rotten so be cautious. A helmet is recommended. Additional Comments The setting around the main crag is spectacular and so is the hiking trail to the crag. There are min-baks 민박 and camping sites on the left side of the entrance.
