Description

Holcomb Valley Pinnacles is located just north of Big Bear Lake, San Bernadino. It's got an elevation of 2.3km which makes it an almost all year round climbing area. It has a huge amount of sport and trad climbing of more than 300 routes. It is made of well featured granite which allows for fantastic friction.

Access issues

You can use either Van Dusens Road or Polique Canyon Road off of North Shore Dr of Big Bear Lake. It is suggested to visit the information centre or the Big Bear Discovery Centre in town to get more detailed information on the state of the roads at the time of visit, especially if you have a low-clearance vehicle.

Approach

Once in the Southern Carpark you will see Parking Lot Rock on the other side of the fence. This is where the crag begins.

Where to stay

Camping is free surrounding the crags, however be aware of fire restrictions in the hotter months, with established sites close to the parking lots.

Ethic

Take out what you take in, keep the area clean, and be aware of weather warnings.
