Release 92 - Lists

A new release of theCrag is available. This release brings several new features to the world's largest rock climbing and bouldering platform - now with over 900.000 routes!

Most notably we have released our new 'List Functionality' for beta-testing. This

Thanks for the update! Itβ€˜s nice to see that the list feature is getting booted up!

Could it be that only one (the active one) circuit was migrated per user? Iβ€˜m pretty sure I had another circuit that is now gone.

replied 2 years ago.

Happy to see this, lists are one of the features I've been anticipating most.

As Christoph Rauch said, only one of my circuits has been migrated.

Is there a way to sort lists by index order? I find that that's the most useful way to view my aspirational

Yes, being able to sort the lists in different ways (in addition to the manual sorting that's already in place via the "edit item" feature) would be great! Like, sort by grade, by name, by index order etc.

Also, the progress indicator at the top currently

This is very cool, super stoked to see this

Some feedback in rough order or desirability:

  1. The migrated Wish list is 100% ticked as Christoph said, but as has been the case in other places I don't think it should be a yes / no depending on tick type

Searching in lists (like the previous search routes in circuit) would probably cover most of the sorting for me. Searching by list + climber + ascent type would do it all.

The "log ascent" button doesn't work for me on this list:

And thanks for the feature.

Super cool feature, making theCrag almost complete πŸ˜‰ ! Thank you guys, i was really waiting for it 😜

Tobias Auth replied 2 years ago.

Cool to see the list implemented! I don't understand how I can set a web cover for my profile though. I only see a lone "done" button above the photo I want to choose. But no possibility to select it.

replied 2 years ago.

Tobias Auth the Profile cover (as well as the web cover for lists!) is still a bit awkward to put - you first select the photo, then click on the 3 dots and follow a similar process as for web covers of areas. Let me know if you have questions.

If you choose one of your photos you should see this menu:

Nice!

Here's one feedback regarding lists.

When I created my first list, it had three routes on it, that I climbed but did not manage to send. The bar on top showed count 3 and was all green. I did not

I do not understand what it means to attach a list to a certain zone/area.

I've made a public list of recommended boulders in one area and attached it to the same area. However, I don't see that list showing up with that area anywhere.

Dominik In the facet view for each area, there's a tab for "lists", e.g. https://www.thecrag.com/en/climbing/germany/lists so that's how you find lists attached to an area.

Georg Kretzschmar replied 2 years ago.

Christoph Rauch Maybe I'm blind, but I also can't find it. Your link works, but I can't get there from the "World" view.

This comment has been removed.

Tobias Auth replied 2 years ago.

Thanks Dominik that's my issue too.

replied 2 years ago.

But that's a more general issue. All the facets that don't have a button in the main menu are hard to reach. You first have to get to the facet page somehow, then click the appropriate tab.

For the example above: go to the "Germany" index page, then click

Oh now I get it. I've actually never used the filter icon before. It's hard to spot and hard to interpret. And from a user's point of view it makes little sense that those lists show up as filters, even though from a technical point of view it probably

The photo edit is fixed . you should now see the three dots

Thanks also for the great feedback - most of the suggestions and features listed above have been added to the development pipeline and will be added in future versions of the List Feature.

I just noticed one more possible bug: although private lists don't show up in a profile (e.g. https://www.thecrag.com/lists/by/@gmkwk) they are accessible if you know the direct link to them (e.g. https://www.thecrag.com/en/list/4753099830).

The button for "add as profile cover" under "..." next to own photos is barely clickable btw. It's mostly text and only at the veery bottom it's clickable.

Cropping and frame select (as for regular web covers) is also not functional.

Just had a look at the updates to lists, and this search probably means that lists have all the functionality I need to delete my aspirational ascents:

Sergey Komarov All your aspirational ascents were transformed into your wish list allready. Please review. All ascents of type aspirational will be deleted automatically soon. So you do not have to do that on your own.

replied 2 years ago.

Thanks for the info about the auto-delete.

Danny van Bruggen replied 2 years ago.

Hi! Can I use this to create a list of classics for a crag? It's a common list, so I don't want it to be a personal thing.

replied 2 years ago.

Danny van Bruggen yes of course - best climbs of whatever or any list you can imagine. just make it piublic - you will still be the editor but it can be seen by everyone. We will soon improve the accessibility of these lists on Area level...

replied 2 years ago.

Sergey Komarov thanks for the link with list filter. I was not aware you could do that. But this was exactly what I was looking for. You can construct that URL only manually, can't you?

replied 2 years ago.

Dominik, pretty sure the list filter is new since the initial release. Get to it by navigating to your list, then select the link whose text is the number of routes (top of the page). Then you can filter by region from the sidebar and style, etc as

My other circuits have meanwhile reappeared as lists, thanks for taking care of that!

No problems, it was a simple oversight on our part.
