Description

Nice boulder with a good landing, if a bit in the middle of nowhere.

Not MCK land. The land is owned by a relative of the Mulwas, formerly of the Kenyan military. Very nice guy and happy for people to boulder respectfully on his land, but best to let him know (the developers of the bouldering here may have first encountered the landowner brandishing a rifle at them).

Approche

Park near the house with a concrete boat watertower (?) and follow good tracks to the pin and boulder, on your left through a bush.

Éthique hérité de Lukenya

Lukenya is mostly trad, with some specific sport crags. No bolting is allowed without special permission from the Mountain Club of Kenya - get in touch with them if you think you have spotted a sport route, think there should be an extra bolt on a climb, see some degraded equipment, etc. Avoid cutting down any vegetation beyond a few bush branches - if you think a particular tree poses a real danger to climbers please bring this to the attention of MCK. Don't harass any of the local, sometimes rare wildlife.

{US} V5 ★ Finger Tingler Bloc

Straight up the middle of the boulder, using a tiny sharp left-hand crimp on the face. If you are 11, very light and very strong like the first ascentionist, you can match on this and use a tiny crack side-pull. If you are not, get your feet up and throw to a good hold at the top - very hard!

{US} V5 ★★ Finger Tingler Assis Bloc

Same as Finger-Tingler, but adding in a sit-start from the lowest crack.

{US} V2 ★ Sura Yako ni Mzuri Mwamba Bloc

Start, low, up to the triangular hold on the face, then up to the right to a good diagonal crimp. Can be done the fun way with a big dyno, or the lame static way with wide feet. Up good holds to the left to finish.

Same finish as for Sura Yako, but starts crouched on the right and works left.
