The largest publicly accessible climbing object in the country.
Recreation area Spaarnwoude features an artificial climbing wall, freely and publicly accessible all year round. The structure is an art piece designed by artist Frans de Wit from Leiden, and consists of 178 blocks of concrete, each 1.2 x 1.2m in size. The blocks offer a natural feel, because the blocks are casts made from real rock in the climbing area Beez (Belgium).
The climbing wall is located in the middle of 'Velsen Valley', an area for music events during the summer season. The climbing wall cannot be used during these events. Check https://spaarnwoudepark.nl/nieuws for the lastest news about closures.
Parking lot located 100m from the climbing site (52.26550, 4.40297), with enough space for approx. 40 cars.
