Ascensioni in Te Waipounamu / The South Island come Tick o First ascent

12 hours climbing time (10 x 30-60m pitches). Ben and I had a great time on this route despite the occasional mossy/chossy/run-out pitch. Taking the time to make solid anchors and gardening to look for gear rather than running it out meant the climb became a long day and we did the final pitch and 30 metre rappel in the dark. A Kea attacking our ropes while Ben was on lead added some excitement to the climb.

Sorta finished up this following Eh?... Got lost find followed up some sketchy chains through the upper section, tho I think there are bolts further to the right I saw a couple

Led top half as second pitch to monkey toes.

Good day out but its far from a 3 star route. Mostly choss bashing up the ridge. Stellar views though

is pulling on quickdraws on top rope aid?

Done this a couple of times but its just too good to not do again

Super fun scramble with a couple of sections we pitched. Super cool exposure. Super cool views! Completely snow free which made it much more of a relaxing day out to goof off on a mountain

Spent ages trying to find the start. Ended up climbing a pitch 20m right of the arete. After that moved left onto the arete proper and did another pitch up the small corner on the arete (loose undercut block at the crux). 14 hours as a 3 and roped up for most of it

Good climb with heaps of exposure

Probably the only time I’ve led a via ferrata. Two stars? Sure, why not.
