A nice sheltered quarry for some varied climes ranging from 4+ to 7c+.
The area is visited by families and tourists and is usually very friendly.
Winspit is an old quarry on the cliffs near Worth Matravers in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, England that is no longer in use.
Climbing is officially not permitted on this private land, with the exception of quarrymans' wall which is now owned by the National Trust.
Unlike other climbs in the Swanage area, Winspit is not effected by the restricted climbing due to birds between March and July 31st.
Park at the National Trust car park (a £2 donation at the National Trust car park, or is free for National Trust members). Beware as this can be busy during summer months.
Once parked (and paid), turn right out the car park and walk down to the hill with the pub (Square and compass) on your left. Keep the pond to your right and walk along the road, past an old water hand pump and turn left past a row of some houses.
Keep on this path, going through a field and two gates, until you come to a junction (near a water filtration/pumping station) and turn left.
Continue down the path until you reach the quarry.
All in all it's about a mile walk from the village of Worth Matravers.
