I was attempting as per the guide book topo. Apparently (according to Mitch) this is completely wrong and the route is in a different spot. I almost made it to the arete with funky moves and would like to try again.

Probably 22 if its clean, for me it was covered in moss. Pretty contrived to stay out of the crack (I backstepped the wall twice, but only climbed the face itself). The lower 10m has some super-small gear (RPs) for moral support, but is balancy enough to be pretty sketchy. The top is better than you might expect, sustained and varied thinness. A bit wandery. My onsight ended at the 3rd bolt (the last hard move), I just sweated off the rail before I could finish the move. =(

Absolutely thin as heck. Could be a touch harder. Went through the crux and it goes into an even more cooked balancey move. In full sun the crimps were too sweaty.

Really nice climbing, with only one desperate move at the grade. Otherwise, it is quite easy. Run out at the start, but well protected with minimal gear after that. Get on it.

John de Bont was very patient on belay whilst I scared myself silly on this, actually a rather nice line. I had wanted to do the classic 19 Auntie Jack, but this was taken with bloody TRers! grrrr. Now if John hadn't done a reverse sandbag on me with this climb, I might not have doged it at all.

Disappointingly couldn't figure out the crux on my onsight attempt. Some funky moves that are hard for the grade. Run-out on easy ground at the start. The climb isn't as bad as I was making it out to be after blowing the o/s, but probably not as good as everyone seems to think. Holds are polished like limestone.

Great to get back on this and simply enjoy it from start to finish. Bloody hard at the grade (half the 22s at Shipley are easier than this), but worth the effort. A classic, despite what I might have said on my previous onsight attempt.

Lead on preplaced gear, don't really know which 'point' does that cunning tatic of turning a trad route into a sports style belongs to. Anyway. Tricky crux sequence, took a fall on it (not a new thing for me unfortunately/fortunately). But with The Sensei's beta got through it, bit of deceiving holds and chalk scene around there. Really good sequence of movements throughout, keeps you engaged and thinking. Definitely a three star route in my books.

Always a pleasure. A classic, probably the best 20 (face climbing wise) I have ever done. Gear wise #0.3 cam, 11 size nut, 13 size nut (shit pro, no fall zone here mate, easy climbing though) and BD #1 cam between the hangers.

Set up a top rope by traversing from the anchor of The Obituary. Checked the gear and the rock will probably accept DMM walnuts #7, #9, BD Cams #.3 or #.4 and 1 or 2x #3. The plan is to lead this next time.

Some cams, some wires, some carrots and some fixed hangers so good mixed route I found the crux quite hard but did on the left using the small crimp edges and poor feet, right may be easier (?)

Downclimbed the crux several times trying to figure it out (tried both left and right beta) before finally giving up the flash attempt. Left is the better beta but it requires committing to the crimp on the top of the flake to get the RF up to a smear and then the high LF. Unfortunately my fingers were visibly making all the smooth, critical holds on the flake wet with condensation and I could never quite commit to trusting the last crimp. Gear: medium wires, single rack + extra #1, bolt plates.
