The old guide showed grade as 10 which seems fair once you become familiar with the grading on the crag.

Got a few moves in on some sharp crimps, before slipping off the sloping crimp just below what seems to be a jug. Felt much better than my first go years ago though!

Small holds in steep territory are not for me, found this nails. Felt sketchy placing the fiddly micro gear on lead. Took some good whippas on shallow wires.

Stellar, reachy but not too bad. Pre-placed gear and inspection.

My partner lead it and it was pretty easy and safe route to climb the traverse part is a bit committing to do. Maybe just me 😅

Absolute fav climb of the week. A lot of fun topping out and beautiful chimney section. Views of the cave and nice swing out to finish it.

Heel hook on a grade 13? How good is arapiles.

Spaced pro. Backed off just before the crux as I was pumping out and couldn't see much pro ahead. Found a spot for a green or purple cam but I had already placed both. Will come back and try again.

Still struggling with feet after overhang. Will be able to send this after two more sessions.

First time ever leading a single pitch. Had led some multi-pitch day earlier. This was hard mentally. Easy to climb.

Nearly came off when I got jumped by the cries of spooked little birdies inside the little cave. Future climbers take care. There were a lot of bees too!

Got up the overhang but failed on a Gaston move.

First climb in Arapiles! Nice day putting up top ropes for the cuzzies. I was surprised to find the protection was good, despite the guidebook description.

Top roped to help another family get their gear out. Bloody steep, never been on an overhang like that on a 14 in NZ!
