Jessie Gap is the second gap East of Alice Springs, not far from Emily Gap, and also provides a few good, easier routes on the hills to either side (not in the Gap itself). The climbing is generally slabby, and some loose rock may be encountered. A helmet is highly recommended. Jessie Gap is situated on Aboriginal land. There is also some bouldering in the Gap, on both sides - but roped climbing is forbidden.
From Alice Springs, follow the Sth Stuart Hwy through Heavitree Gap. Take the first turn L, to cross the river, then drive past several caravan parks to a roundabout. Follow the Ross Hwy for a further 15km, Jessie Gap is signposted.
Most of these climbs were done by John Griffiths and co in 1973.
