Quiet area off the beaten Pierces path. Variable rock quality, know how check/pull on loose holds. So far, only easier problems developed with scope for more development.
The Pandemic area covers a fair amount of ground, including a boulder on the west side of the creek.
The characteristic Pierces Creek granite ranges from very good to rather poor quality, most problems listed here have been cleaned of obvious loose flakes and choss unless otherwise noted. Anything that is particularly bad or good should be noted in the problem or boulder description. However, it would be advisable to know how to check for and pull on loose holds.
Due to variable rock quality and not that many problems, probably best visited after sampling what the rest of Pierces Creek has to offer.
Dirt roads, but all 2wd usable if you are slow and careful
From Laurel Camp Road, turn right onto Old Blackboy Road (low-slung vehicles beware: this turn is a bit rutted). About 100m up Old Blackboy Road on the left there is a small pull-out with room for a car or two, park here for access to the main area. For the Isolation boulder, keep following Old Blackboy Road for a few hundred metres until you cross over the creek. 70m further up the road from the creek there's obvious parking about on both sides of the road.
Pierces Creek is primarily a bouldering area however a number of naturally protected lines have been established over the years. No bolting of routes is accepted. Instead, ascentionists use natural protection on the higher problems, or where that is not available, rely on mats, spotters, and gumption.
Initial development in 2020 during the pandemic.
