攀登 in The Surf Bowl

My first 5.12a. Very soft but it's in the guide. Cave rest kinda turns it into one boulder problem. So much fun.

Took a nice 8m whip. Can do it in a single hang just need to bring more snacks and warm up better

Probably the most fun I’ve had on a route at EPC. Giant committing moves between good holds. Crux is an epic throw to a good full-pad edge and from there to the top it’s on like Donkey Kong. First fall was not latching the throw properly. Getting into the final sequence above the last bolt was quite a bit harder than I thought it would be. I had trouble keeping tension on the feet. Some better sequencing might be necessary to make it efficient. The runout is epic and super safe with a soft catch. Without the final rest this felt hard for 12d. Very athletic and relentless.

Mostly choss with a fun reachy crux move and a bouldery finish. Almost blew it at the top reading the holds wrong. Left kneepad would be useful but not necessary since the kneebar is quite comfortable if you decide to use it. For me it was necessary to get into the right tufa. With better beta this wouldn’t be a pumpy route but the crux and finish felt full-value for me at the grade.

Super fun powerful cruxes separated by amazing rests. A left kneepad was useful for the end.
