Super duper chimney climbing! First pitch goes on for ages and you settle into a beautiful rhythm that sounds rather heinous when explained verbally. Good gear and very grippy rock makes for a pleasant ascent. The start is spooky until you commit to sitting down into the chinmey rather than trying to bridge the moves. Commit earlier! Tess led what was supposed to be the grade 10 pitch and went completely off-route chasing after bolts (classic sport climber ) and ended up doing what I think must have been the 18 pitch of West Face of the Mirrorball

Great day out. Pretty damn cold but not too bad in the end, glad I layered up! One ripped puffer jacket and one punctured foot but otherwise a smooth sailing. PS. Beware the first (70m) rap leaves you in open air. Be sure to kick against the wall so you've got enough swing to gain the ledge

2 Laps - just to the last bolt (24 to here) clean, as the last moves were dripping wet. Managed to punch this one out, sans chalk, placing draws, no worries whatsoever. Pretty chuffed with this, given that I haven't steep climbed in the 7 months since my accident. My core and calves felt it the next morning, though! This is my favourite of all the routes on the upper ledge.

There happened to be a party on Clockwork Orage when we rocked up, so did the first pitch of this to kill the time. Despite the description, the “bolted belay” of the adjacent route is actually 2 carrots… so lowered Aidan and then down-led the pitch. Cleaned up an old stuck sling in the process too, which literally pulled apart in my hands.

Clean repeat. Much better than I remembered it (and much easier)! Essentially 2 boulders surrounded by easy climbing, but both boulders are rad. With some rope management, this is very achievable as a giant single pitch.

Mega Classic, interesting climbing throughout choss, arete, laybacks, traverse, slabs and switching sides of the fin. 100m static hangs about 6 meters above the ground however with stretch we were able to swing left to higher ground, put knots in end of rope otherwise the fall would be catastrophic. 10 hours car to car, had plenty of daylight so we set up the Tyrolean exit. Dont know how long this thing will be there for but could definitely use some glue on P1 where some of the fins flex or let nature take its course, climb delicately for the whole thing it is suprisingly choss. This is not just another sport multi.

Wafer Thin Fin has been on the to-do list for a while. Mostly because of its general novelty, partly because getting a group of strong enough climbers who also enjoy adventure choss is difficult. It is fascinating that this climb attracts sport climbers thinking it is another day at the crag. Because it really is a giant pile of choss waiting to fall over. Rock quality is hilariously awful. Very amusing to stick your arm through the rock and wave at your belayer through the other side. Some of the flakes are flexing. Some of the flakes on which bolts are placed were flexing. Hilarious. But totally worth the visit. It is such a unique rock formation. And part of the novelty is wondering if you'll be the last party to climb it before it falls down after another erosion-inducing rain event. It is definitely an experience for a party that knows how to deal with rope faff. The distance from the top of the cliff to the bottom is 103m (including the knot to tie the rope to the bolts). We discovered the hard way that 100m of rope just doesn't reach. We also learned that the distance from the top of the cliff to the mainland side Tyrolean bolts is about 43m. A 40m rope also just doesn't reach. 10 hours car to car. Climbing from bottom to top took 5 hours. Jugging out took 3 hours.

All time mega classic. A solid effort to get up this thing, everything you’ve heard is true. P2 is crazy crimpy and consistently committing. P3 is scary and committing to the wet crux with bad fall potential was an exercise in sphincter clenching. Leading the first 3 cooked me and Louie took the reigns for 4 and 6 while I managed to deliriously onsight my way back to the car and a few beers.
