Ascents of Sunstroke having Beta

Gorgeous setting and cruisy route to take a beginner.

First multi pitch yay

dragged the old man up a climb, first time playing around with twin ropes i think its quite alot better for this sort of thing.

Done as a 65m pitch and a 60m pitch (on a 60m rope)

As stated in my initial log of this route as a seconder with Meg and Jarrah, I was keen to come back and lead it someday, and I finally did! It's even better on lead, and I look forward to repeating and enjoying Sunstroke many times in the future with friends, and hopefully with clients. I would love to eventually log leads of every pitch. It was great to bring Penny along as the seconder. She greatly enjoyed the multipitch adventure and the stunning views.

Done in 3 long pitches. Extended the first pitch to belay on sloping ledge below thin cracks. Second, Straight up the thin cracks above... (nut in crack on bushy ledge)

Did someone leave something behind at the top of sunstroke?

Lead almost all of it, with a few scary runouts in the rain.

Lead pitch 1 of trachy Matt lead a short pitch 2. I followed, thought "this is easy" and a second later fell. Lead final pitch almost a full 60m as the rain started

Real cruizy type Operation here, just a meander up the slabs, but did break it up into 4 P so easy to see Chloe, she had a love/hate relationship with this one!! would smash out 3-4 of these with Dyl I reckon, if we rap on an 80m fixed line, and link/solo a lot of the easy slab sections.

Lovely day out and slight faff train with a party of 4. Treated to a view of an enormous wedgie perched above Determinant sector on arrival.

Nice climb, though the cracks were wet from recent rain.

Linked P1/P2 - ran it out along the weakness for the last of P2 rather than traversing left (wet) or doing the variant. Made an anchor near the top of the block from a wire, .75 and 1, after scraping out some of the moss and muck.

Linked P3/P4 starting straight up the corner with stems, but couldn't quite reach the pro at the back of the top terrace with my ~60m rope, so I marched back down the cracks and made a sub-optimal anchor in the flared groove.

Nick led the last 10m again to put in the final anchors.

Gear: double rack + wires, but used less than half of it at any one time... mostly just wires and .75-2.

I actually tried to do this climb earlier in the week with Bec, but misunderstood the approach beta and ended up having a bad time bashing through Cocker's gully.

Good day out, lovely weather. Rap in was nice, the second chains are on your left if you are facing the rock.

Was a bit wet but otherwise excellent climbing.

Nice day out with Lachlan Craig think we got off route felt a bit tricky. Take a full rack of toenails.

Leading Simul with Pogdog. Fun one

My first multi-pitch. Couldn't be more chuffed, and had great company. Can't wait to come back and lead it.

Mostly good protection following the small cracks. painful approach with lots of bush bashing, much longer than expected. End of first pitch was wet and mossy near the belay. Best to use a 70 to allow for longer pitches

Quick reccy day trip with Tones. Done in 3 pitches. 1 & 2 were fun and interesting, 3 was a bit of a walk.

Sopping wet but lots of fun

Was a fun first booroomba and all Trad multi experience. Was an obvious line although to spice it up I went up and over the ledge before p2 belay. Oh also the first pitch was a waterfall which made it that little bit scarier.

Decided to come up late and turn this into a night climb, was quite fun leading the pitches by the moonlight.

Gave my friend a chance to lead. Just for fun we abseiled down Yellow Brick Road to get to the track to Sunstroke. Someone left a cam in a crack at the top of the first pitch.

I linked pitch 1 and 2 with a metre to spare to the corner belay at the projecting block. Then Chris linked 3 and 4-with some surprise simulclimbing! And there I was thinking my rope was longer than 60m (?)

Are ACT Rock Metres longer than Victorian and Tazzy Rock Metres?

First trad multi! I got a bit too keen/overexcited, and managed to link P1, P2, P3 and half of P4... Not a recommended linkup, rope drag was actively pulling me down the slab! I got halfway up the twin cracks of P4 and ran out of rope, downclimbed to the bottom of P4 and felt very silly.

Super stoked to have ticked this as a first multi on gear, heaps of sensible placements and I didn't stitch it up anywhere near as much as I thought I would.

Great climb in a fantastic location. Split the 3rd pitch at the tree to recover some gear. Heavily ran out the final pitch as I was light on suitable gear (that I could spot!). Would appreciate doubles of mid range rams next time around.

Cool chill out slab climbing. It's like walking up a hill. 2nd pitch was a bit of a bouldery start (just because I'm short) the crack movements is cool. 3rd pitch would be enjoy but we ended up doing a night climb out. Got a bit harder to see. Towards the end there was a bit of stemming/ straddling movements going on heading up towards the shrub.

p3 is the best for sure. i recommend doing pitch 1 of tachyon then linking up with sunstroke for a mega classic!

a different start to this, and knocked off the last two pitches in one.

awesome multi. pitch 2 of tachyon was scary was foook!!! so much moss and nowhere great to protect. 3rd pitch of equlibrium is classic.

ended up finishing in the dark. the walk off is not a walk off. pretty much had to climb up another 50m of boulders to get to the trail.

Fun day out! I ended leading the last two pitches as one. The rain the previous day definitely spiced it up abit. Good protection
