Hi, I'm not yet a trad climber, but I will be in the area 25-27 August and was thinking of bringing my gear to do some sport (doesn't seem to be any) or set up top rope. I won't have a buddy, so, two questions:
There are really only big, serious trad climbs in the Warrumbungles and not really any opportunity for sport or toprope. Maybe at some of the smaller crags there might be but in the main areas the routes are definitely very trad.
Testing the Water at Canyon is a 19 sport climb but I don't remember seeing any easy way to access the anchors from above. It's also a 2 minute walk in from the car unlike many of the Warrumbungles cliffs.
I don't remember how I bolted Testing the Waters but I presume I just walked around to the top? It's a short cliff and would suit your needs, however it certainly isn't proper climbing in the Warrubungles!
