03 March 2011. Onsight in the rain. Quite a few challenging moves, guarded by a tough start. Bring some cams to protect the moves to get established on the arete.

I liked it. Good continuous climbing that isnt a really over until its over. That said the first carrot is rather committing and I would definitely stick clip it.

Took a full rack, thinking it was going to be mixed (from the guidebook), but a #0.75 is enough to protect it. Hard and very committing start but there is a good (slightly hidden) jug to clip from, but a bit of balance is needed. Pretty easy after that with a couple of nice sequences on the arete.

Really nice moves, nice location, felt pretty hard. Only issue is bolting. Clipping the first carrot bolt felt very sketchy, with a potentially very dangerous fall and no possibility to stick clip. Also with one more bolt added between the 1st and 3rd this would be a sport climb. Only requires the single cam (BD # 0.75 or 1)

Really nice line! Got up 95% of this one clean. Just before the anchors the climb turns heaps nails which is were i ended up resting! Would love to go back and have another top rope crack at this one!

Good climbing but didn't know about the chopped bolt until I got there. Was able to protect with a #1 red camalot. Definitely need the cam otherwise there is groundfall potential. Half the bolts are carrots and half are fixed plates - not sure what has been going on here?

This was memorable as doing the top section the rain started to freeze and turned to sleet which was tapping on my helmet as I neared the anchors. Interesting day in the blueys!

First climb of the day. Wasn't really warmed up physically or mentally so this one was pretty tough and not super fun. Didn't help that we swapped the lead at the last second and I forgot to get some bolt plates, used nuts instead.

One of the best 19s in the mtns just great face/vague arete climbing the whole way. The only downside is that the low off works for sport climbing folk however it could be improved.

Make sure to bring that cam. A bold lead if 19 is your grade. Anchor set back from ledge. bring slings if you want to set up a top rope. Stick slip that first bolt. Great climb though.

A cool iron stone flake feature running up the arete. A couple of crux crimps turn into nice little sequence and then the route backs off into an enjoyable Mountains arete.

Warmup turned mini epic with the wrong gear. A #1 or #2 is essential for the otherwise very runout sandbag crux (don’t bother with wires!)… good reminder about the ways of old school blueys questing
