Ascents in Brooyar by David Jefferson

Tricky climbing - mixture of powerful moves off the deck with some strange body positioning at the second bolt.

Pretty nice notwithstanding the short length and moderate grade.

Very nice, and a good mini adventure if you rap in. Too short to be a classic though IMO.

Bailed from the last bolt - couldn't figure out how to top the thing out. Seemed to be a pretty awkward, powerful, and sandy mantle.

Another fun roped boulder problem at Brooyar.

Felt pretty soft for the grade, but I won't complain about taking the full 25 points for the onsight!

Got it second go. Not that hard nor that painful really. Just need to be precise with the fingers.

Went down first go, but I had done it once before. Great little roped boulder problem.

Sent third shot, a bit more than I anticipated, but when I sent it felt como mantequilla. Amazing beta above the third bolt!

Very unique and fun climbing. Emphasis on the heel hooks!

Excellent jugs through the roof!

Fun to do by head torch.

Decent roof pulling, but annoying lack of anchor.

Fell trying to figure out the bottom first go, lowered, then sent second go. Somehow spooky but good, and sustained.

Too short, but some nice techy movement nonetheless.

I was disappointed that the porno mag is no longer in the big horizontal. Maybe time to modernise the route with a new issue.

This line really surprised me. I had a hell of a time figuring out the beta, especially to pull the mini roof at the end. It'll definitely require some more work...or third party beta.

If only it were longer.... Surprising that the crux seems to be above the roof pull.

Quite a nice line, but the best at Brooyar? I'm dubious. Still, an excellent romp and surprising exposure towards the top. I didn't find the start to be too bad, as the foot smears offer good texture.

Awesome moves! Like many routes in the mid 20s at Brooyar, if only it were longer...

This thing is fierce! Definitely would be a challenging onsight. Quite sequential and thin.

Feels appropriately 24 once you figure out the beta. Nails to onsight.

Very nice and engaging climb, but probably not deserving of the 3 stars it gets in the guidebook.

Got up the thing relatively easily except for the big crux throw. Couldn't stick the move with heel hook beta, will try the tall guy reach next time.

Went second go this time - felt MUCH easier than the last time I tried it a couple of years ago. Likely due to the splitter winter temps!

First line I got on at Brooyar. Fun and fancy climbing off the deck, then sustained jugs.

A few nice crimpy moves to an unremarkable finish.

Unlikely positions and interesting if sometimes awkward movement.

Bolting is a tad spicy and the top bit is tricky and fun.
