Ascents in Gabriel Buttress having Beta

TRS laps, getting off the ground is really hard for 21, maybe I’m being punterful tho. everything else seems on grade.

TRS lap, I enjoy this more than thin friend for some reason, can wait to lead

One go in last light. Wicked crux section. Took a couple of attempts to stick it, then was hard to see cam placements in the dark

Nice long and varied route. 18 in book, which feels right. Bring your wide stuff.

Cool little route. I found the crux move really hard, but I probably did it wrong.

Best line of the session. Quite enjoyable, especially if you go up the arete up top

Second lap to tidy up start and mantle

Tough start. Get bendy! High steps, mantles and some long reaches.

Amazing and terrifying. Awesome position and great moves well above some very small gear

Now has 3 bolts instead of 1 carrot. Can safely go ground up now.

Could not make the right foot stick on the send goes. Pulled on straight after falling both times and when to the top. Will be nicer when it isn't dripping wet and with a stiffer right shoe.

Actually really good! Some unique mantles, and high steps up a lovely face. Currently only protected by a single carrot..needs at least one more bolt (ideally two) to make it a safe lead.

Pleasant. Good variety of sizes.

Great committing starting moves followed by pleasant moves. Finished up arete instead of super easy chimney.

Weird and techy, would come back for this

nice jamming, interesting moves turning the roof. Would have been better if I didn't place gear deep under the roof. The crack also liked to eat our rope which was a pain.

Great fun. Fantastically varied from laybacks to face holds to crimps to jams and then off-width. I took a 4, 5 and 6 to protect to wide parts at the top. Without that you'd be looking at a pretty big fall.

Got the moves sorted. Some of the best moves in the gorge especially down low. Once the bolts are replaced I'll get on the sharp end.

Such a rad climb, not a classic but really fun with a lot going on

Very rusty bolts and flaking hangers. Recommend not leading this climb until bolts are replaced. I'll replace them next time I'm there if no one beats me to it.

Sneaking in a couple last climbs at the gorge with chris. We entered gabriel buttress during a helicopter search for a missing person. The copter was searchiny right around our area and the sound was deafening. Made for quite an atmospheric rap in, but ultimately we decided it would be in bad taste to pretend to be the missing person and wave the search team over. Between my lead on this climb and chriss on the 19 corner in the ampitheatre, we placed 7 times as many rps as i did on the rest of the trip. I thought this climb was gunna break my legs on the 2nd last day on the island but went up and sussed the first crux and before a while had a nice little nest built. Quite safe in the end. We confused a few grey drunkards exiting the penny royal with a torch lit gear audit in the carpark.

Nice varied climbing with an engaging runout at the top if you don’t have bigger gear.

Didn’t feel up to leading this looking at it from the ground so passed the lead to Jack. The gear is all there though so will lead it next time. Nice climb.

Much easier walk down here. Met some Launceston climbers going for their after-work session as we packed up, what a spot for it. This is a fun little climb, I just didn't trust that easy holds would follow if I pulled around the roof, perhaps after the self-sandbag the other day.
