Ascents in Mountain Quarry by Kym Campbell

Nice new climb with some interesting moves and well placed bolts. Maybe easy for the grade.

Good fun. If this were at ground level, there'd be chalk all over it.

Pitch 1 is plenty run out after the 4th bolt, so take some small/medium cams. On the 2nd pitch I didn't see the bolts on the arete, so climbed the corner crack to the left, which didn't seem like a soft option at the time.

Awkward start, easy top half. Grade seems fair.

Poorly protected and in no way worth it. Don't waste your time.

Easy start, easy finish, hard in the middle. Would be tricky to onsight, I was glad to have the beta from Ash to get through the crux.

Stand start

The start is very puzzling, then, when you work it out, it's really hard to do. It becomes progressively easier after that. Get angry!

A climb of two halves, both of them quite good, separated by a short stroll. Worth a look.

Not sure why the top crux feels harder than the bottom one. It looks easier.

A very good, strangely neglected route at the grade. Lots of variety, and well bolted.

Good route, solid at the grade with a few classic moves.

Dogged the onsight, got it clean at 2nd attempt. A nice technical route that requires good footwork more than anything else. Well worth a look.

21+ excellent, short route. Someone has stolen the biners.

Retro flash. Did half of this route 8 years ago. Interesting, often puzzling climbing.

Finessed through the crux using the Felton method - much better than the dyno, I have to say.

It's ok

Quite possibly the last morning climb of the season.

Once you get past the plastic holds, it's quite consistent and nice climbing for the grade with a fun layback to get to the anchors.

Reasonable. Lots of bees and wasps at the first clip.

Quite insecure, but it is very protectable

Better than you would think

not sure what the exact route is for this one, except that it doesn't follow the line of the bolts.

Got it on the 4th attempt. The send was a bit of a sloppy effort, but I held on when it mattered. Glad to have it done

Very satisfying to get the clean lead, considering how hard this felt a couple of months ago. Great climb with several unusual moves.

Sent. Fun, well protected climb with some big moves and a tricky finish that feels scary, but is pretty safe really.

Finally ticked this proper Perth classic.

Surprise send. After a poor warm up on a route that will remain unnamed, I didn't have high hopes. First section was fine, pulled out a heel smear as new beta for the middle crux, which did the job, then climbed through the top crux before really noticing I was onto it. Can't have been paying attention. It made the mantle at the top a little nerve racking.

Finally got the lead.

Second attempt. The start is a bit insecure, but then it's cool moves on a variety of holds.

An interesting puzzle to the 3rd clip, then the top half is a formality.

Dogged the red point, got it clean next attempt. This is a fairly good climb with a couple of interesting cruxes and some ok climbing between them, but it's very dirty so it's hard to give a fair assessment. One star is probably about right. It's nice and long, and the bolting is good.

Warm up

Onsight attempt, got spooked making the second clip and held the draw. Much more fun the second time around when you know where the holds are. Good 19.

An oldie, but a goodie. Probably better in the daylight hours.

Not quite cruisy enough to be a good warm up. Fluffed the start, came back down and did a better job after that.
