Ascents in New South Wales and ACT by Carl Walsh having trad-cpr or ascent-date

SO STOKED!! Been thinking about this climb since the last time I was in the mountains. Used a different beta for the crux and it felt really good when it went. All up 1 toppy and 4 redpoint attempts for my first send at the grade

Gets a star for pants shittery, not sure if just scary but felt hard at 18

Might be a bit sandbagged or have lost a couple holds from the break, bit chossy. Would bring a rack of wires next time instead of just cams (1-3)

Not me tweaking super hard as soon as I got on to the arete and almost whipping on jugs

First time on it. So psyched to come back! Slightly awkward size for me at baggy fingers but can’t get a ring lock. Excellent gear, took a decent whip going for the viccy hold. Next time!!

Woooo crack! Didn’t have gear and obviously I wanted to do the crack so we set this up as a top rope from the anchors of Gina. Great hand crack at bottom than fists after the ledge

First outdoor climbs in Canberra, cute crag and nice features. Didn’t expect to be climbing limestone here!

Short and sweet, did again barefoot for fun

Mossy

Decent first pitch. Scary chossy second pitch. Was already tired from Darkball, pulled on gear through the roof. Got into a fight with a .3 cam. Probably a bit out of my league but definitely an adventure.

So the bottom half of these routes is a moderately unpleasant choss fest not worth repeating for the 8m or so of very nice climbing at the top. We just rapped back down to the top ledge and went from there.

Found the bee hive, apparently missed the 30cm long lizard right next to it.

Size 4 cam, sling and blue big bro. Just wanted to use the bro which was actually pretty bomber

A fun ramble, some quality choss, a bit sandbagged but well protected.

Did something near this but didn’t look at the guide and wandered up the ridge. Mixed rock quality but super cool day out. Some epic pitches and some absolutely terrifying rumours.

Absolutely epic! Sat once, shoulda pushed through.

Super cruisey and fun

Great chimney for first two pitches, felt hard. Ninja linked the third pitch into the top of Mirrorball and got to lunch ledge in one 50ish metre pitch.
