Ascents in Oatlands having Beta

Holy moly I’m stoked about Oatlands again

Bit of a brawlfest on this one 😳

A fun bit of contortion to make this one work.

A project that I tried quite a bit last season. Surprisingly went in a few tries first session back on it. No idea about the grade really but it adds some hard moves into Angel's on the Sidelines so 11 seems to make sense.

Finally got the start toe beta worked out after trying it at least once a year for the past 6 years. looking forward to my next commute south via this conveniently placed crag

Felt nice to pull hard again. Keen for another session or two here.

More attempts got new high point. Just need to figure the last couple left hand bumps!

Gave it a ton of attempts and only was able to hit the second bump. No luck after that

Feel very close! Will come back when it’s a bit colder

Tom of attempts on the first move. Pulled on after first move and sent the rest of the climb easy. Just need to unlock the shouldery Gaston move.

It's a mantle problem

Big moves on good holds. Cave was filled with poop.

Every other time I've considered trying this over the years I quickly realised it was well out of my league. So am happy to have made quick work of it this time round. High tension shouldery moves get a big 👍 from me.

So keen to get this done on my birthday, quality quality line. the DOMS afterwards were heinous.

Also pretty neat moves, needed a bit more juice than I had to give (the juice probably being good technique)

Is the last move of this just a big jump out?? That seems scary as... I'm guessing the big old pocket right in front of you is out?

So stoked to send this powerful and fun climb!! I was keen to give it a good flash go, but evidently need to learn to balance being thoughtful of technique with some more try-hard factor

How does one climb fit so much funk into it?

It wasn’t very long ago this felt near impossible. Tommy Krauss beta & lots of training has paid off!

Much more of a battle than anticipated. Ended up finding different beta for the second move, more hard smaller moves rather than one big move. Still took two session to link it from the start after thinking it should go any attempt now. Worked for me but certainly stacks up and is up there with other 10's in the area in my opinion.

Finally worked out some beta that works better for me. Did it from one move in, then couldn't link it through to the end anymore. Feels very hard for me personally. Way too many sessions spent on this now over the years, looking forward to getting it done soon.

Put another couple of attempts into Jake's. Very hard for me still but making progress.

Grueling start! Wouldn't have kept trying the first move if it wasn't for Nick Hanson and his never ending psych! Somehow I managed to stick it eventually somewhat unexpectedly, took me another 2 attempts or so to figure out the match. Traverse is still hard and on until the last big move, major punt potential. So psyched I got this in the same session as Angels. Beautiful cold day with a great crew.

Great line out the left hand end of the cave, often overlooked in the past but turning into a major drawcard for the cave these days. First tried it in around 2015 but wasn't up for it back then. Tried it again for the first time in 8 years last weekend, got all the moves but ran out of steam for the send. Came back one week later, got the send on the third attempt of the day. Hype

Managed the first move today. So that was nice. Now just to properly fire it.

Mantled felt way less sketch this time. So that was nice.

Almost forgotten link-up I hadn't done in years, real good fun
