Ascents in Six Fois Zette/Carelle

Had a bit of a tight rope on the crux. Neil whipped. The best rock of all time on this exposed, hard route. Hanging belay in a bonsai above the void.

Back to the killer wall. Mono crux, slung the flake.

Runout arete. I had some thin, single and neat Dutch photographer tourists take pics of me and then email the photos. Thanks boys!

Sam lowered me over the edge. Felt like 7b - totally nails!

Mistakenly thought we were on its 6a+neighbour. Bold as for a sport climb. Dangerously run-out through hard moves without supplemental gear (which I didnt have). Super-sustained! I fell twice in wet conditions getting to the crux (at the 4th bolt), then climbed the remaining 35m clean (including the nails mono1-pad crux, and the upper dynamic crux 6m above the last bolt. Amazing committing climbing. Wouldve loved another shot, but it got dark

Rad to come back to this almost 4 years after I last struggled on it (and was very scared of the runouts) and dispatch it with relative ease and no fear, placing about 1/2 the draws on lead. Brilliant climbing on perfect rock with a punchy first half, and pleasant 2nd.

A climb out as my last route at Verdon this trip. Liked into P2 of Scoumonde (7b) for a harder, 50m pitch. A brilliant, technical, wandery climb with lots of cryptic route-finding. I finally picked the wrong path in the last bolt of the hard stuff, but tried to push on anyway and didn't quite make it. Just a single fall. Sad not to have time for another shot, but stoked with the oure onsight effort.

P2 (7b) only, linked from Cercopitheque for a harder finish and a mega 50m pitch. Earns the grade for an extremely hard brief boulder problem through a bulge, took a single fall mid-crux (and fell a long way due to the amount of rope in the system!), thrn climbed from below the crux to the top. No anchor meant I had to belay off the lookout itself, which turned the whole climb into a circus.

Amazing pocketed lower corner, then it backs off unfortunately.

The bottom half is amazing, technical corner climbing on good holds in a stunning position. The top half is a dirty jug-haul. Still a classic. Polished!

I didn't think it was possible but this was even better than the last day. Every pitch was just an absolute classic. We skipped the 7a and 6c+ bottom pitches which sounded pretty shitty.

We started from the lower the 6c+ pitch, awesome route

Would be Mega Classic if not for the rubbish access pitch and the aid move off the belay of P2 (the first 6c pitch). Otherwise it is brilliant and varied on nearly immaculate rock, and quite demanding. The gnarly traverse and continuously hard P3 (6c), and the "improbably steep at the grade" P7 (6a), and classy groove-feature P8 (6a+) are the standouts. Onsight P1, P2, P3 (with an initial fall right off the belay when I thought I was off-route). P4, P5, and P7, clean 2nd P6 and P8. In alpine conditions with some snow on the ground.
