Left just after midnight from Camp 2 and summited at 0648hrs. Calm until we reached the plateau at camp 3, climbed in relative shelter for most of the ascent. Calm clear conditions on the summit. Less snow and ice than expected.

Alpine start in perfect conditions. An enjoyable rock scramble up to the glacier negotiating some large crevasses before ascending the steep headwall to the summit. Spectacular views of Nuptse and Lhotse South Face. Spent almost an hour at the summit taking in the views and feeling great after acclimatizing on Lobuche East and Pokalde. Descended to base camp for the night before crossing the Amphu Laptsa pass en route to Mera Peak the following day.

Set off from high camp (5800m) at 0230 in terrible conditions . Forecasts had the summit at -39C with wind speeds up to 90 km/h. We pushed through the weather hammered by spindrift and knocked off our feet on numerous occasions. As the sun came up the summit came into view and we arrived at approximately 0730. We stayed for only a brief period taking a couple of photos before our hands and feet began to freeze. Spectacular views of Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Chamlang in the distance. We decended 2100 vertical meters to the villiage of Thagnag for some much needed recovery before making our way down the valley towards the Zawtra La pass the following day. I'd recommend climbing this peak earlier in the season when conditions are more favorable.

This was my first ever alpine climb undertaken with a guide in 2019, jumared up the fixed ropes to gain the summit headwall, would be interesting to attempt to climb it now in alpine style.
