Ascents in Three Sisters having Beta

Don’t know if it’s because this line is short, soft, or suited me well, but I’m still chuffed with the onsight.

Some very classy climbing on this one, and better than expected rock quality.

Broken up by the ledge halfway, but still a good route with interesting movement on slopers.

Fun jug haul traverse to dirty headwall.

Great, technical warm up on generally good rock.

Great interesting climbing. One of the best 19s around. But pretty scary!

Dirty and vegetated, but good protection

A worthwhile addition to the crag, with some try-hard moves and rock that will make your skin cry. Grateful for the chance to nab the second ascent.

Quality crimping through the face, then ticky tacky moves through the bulge.

Repeat, hanging draws.

Repeat to equip Big Red.

Very dirty initially, but cleaned up well. 25 makes sense for the grade, commensurate with ClimbNZ and Tony’s guide. It’s not often that you get to use knee bars and offwidth technique in a single sport pitch, good stuff!

As with everything at Twisted, this route was extremely dirty and took a good bit of brushing and figuring out first go. Went easily second go, apart from the tenuous anchor clip!

I actually enjoyed this line once I worked out where it goes. Thin start to roof and jug haul. The crag itself is rather poor though.

step off tree, climb rightward across face, then back left at the top past 5th bolt to chains

nice technical slab, nice slopers!

Chuffed to tick this one off third go. A stonker of a line, technical and powerful, with at least 6 kneebars. Like being back in SEQ!

Took longer than it should have today, but got it done. Quite sequential on small holds. Nearly as good as the original.

Ridiculously short, but actually good fun! Quite a bouldery crux.

Fantastic, pumpy climbing the whole way. Quite varied: technical face, steep and juggy headwall, slab top. Well worth the longer approach!

Surprisingly fun! Definitely the steepest 23 in the Port Hills. Steeper than some of the routes at the Cave!

So thin! Thought I had reasonably strong fingers but this one makes me doubt it….
