Probably the best 16 I've ever done! Worth the long approach!

So...I actually got lost on this route. Apparently I'm not the only person to ever do so which kind of makes me feel slightly better. I clipped the first 3 or four bolts on a rising traverse and went around the corner (out of sound and sight of belayer) and found myself on a grassy ledge in front of a featured wall. In my mind I imagined that the rising traverse continued so continued up the featured wall looking for the next bolt - up and up and up. Free solo not being my forte it was rather scary for me. I slung a pathetic looking bush continued further up into mossy terrain then very carefully down climbed. I now understand from the guidebook and feedback from Queenstown Climbing Club Facebook Group that I should have walked along the grassy ledge. I presume the next bolt is hidden in the greenery somewhere. There is no fixed hardware anywhere up where I climbed in error. I left a couple of nice slings and biners around a bush up there if anyone is keen for booty.

Body position intensive. I have probably done this before.

Monster steep jugs lead to monster slab jugs. Harder to clean than climb.

SO FUN! Long, engaging, well protected, airy. All the things. A great first lead for the new outdoor climber. Tie knots in the end of your rope (60m) and dont be suprised if it lowers you around the corner.

Insanely fun climb! Stick clip the first bolt if you can, as its a bit spicy if you blew it. Super clean fall as your hucking for the lip tho. Its like climbing a cave boulder problem at the gym (jugs and heel hooks) till you pull over the lip. Once established on the face the climbing eases off to 15/16. Don't forget the classic photo for instagram!

Long, meandering route. Bolts are pretty spaced out and the anchors are farther up than you think. But otherwise the movement and airy exposure make this climb feel epic!

Unintentionally did a link up with the mission as a warm up. Yikes.

Lost the onsight because I went up the ramp too early and got denied.

Did a different start to normal by accident by hopping on the 20 and then coming back into the 16.

Such a cool roof. Not long either. Super juggy.

Don't make this your first climb on schist! It's all over the place and is a mission to stay on route. Heaps of feet.

Fun consistent easy climbing! Crux is a little polished but no problem.

Super fun to the face! With footwork there is no need to cut loose. Last 4 bolts up the face take away from the climb though.
