Ascents in Arrow Buttress

Lead and linked P1 and P2. The 17 P2 felt fine, hauling on jugs through a roof although they were kind of thin flake jugs. Hanging belay stance, first time I did this and I felt I set it up very well, coiling the rope over the clove hitched rope. Lovely to climb with two ropes again, so much easier. I got hit with a small stone in the cheek, really surprised this didn't hurt more or draw blood.

Linked P1 and P2. I backed off P2, couldn't see the line through that weird block. Was fine when I seconded and saw the hold. Didn't like this pitch though, lots of blocks wobbled and moved around. P3 and 17 quite weird trad style climbing. Also missed a key handhold. Not sure I'd recommend this route, felt quite grotty.

Exceptionally good quality, up there with the best! P1-15, is fun and bold; P2-16/17 is average and lichenous; P3-20 is outta this world, blank face with rails and good gear, best to take a lot of micro cams, I used about 8. The route is a little intimidating so strong head is required, I must say again that the face climbing on this route is superb, with a great finishing crux thru roof.

Cool climb, first 20 felt harder than the second one, could just be the style. Tricksy crack vs glory roof jugs. Clean ascent for the both of us, no falls.

The second and last pitch climb beautifully. Great rock. Old abseil tat in situ at the top, you may want to replace.

Borrow your friends micros for this one! Splendid face climbing, looks blank from the bottom but the holds are there where needed. Pros are just spaced and thin enough to keep the adrenaline flowing. We kept the top crux move for next time, hence grade 19.

P1-3 are bland but worth the effort for P4 which is spectacular for the grade! 2nd Best 18 pitch to date

Fun route.

Good crux pitch.

P2 is pretty spectacular, forgot how gnarly trad is. P3 is truly classic, prob the best pitch of 16 that I have climbed to date, so many gear placements, esp nuts. I had really bad rope drag thoug, also not 16, feels more14/15; we did in dark with head torches.

Worth doing once.

Has good parts. Only for the most dedicated route ticker. But overall, a bit of a wank.

P2 is really good!

Cool route! Laurence went off route on the third pitch heading through the middle of the roof landing us on the last pitch of El Matador (19). Little bit tough, but cool climbing!

Will have to return to climb the respective routes in their entirety.

Fun for beginners.
