Ascents in The Uberfall having Beta

P1 mildly terrifying in the vertical crack. Lucky I still had a blue cam. P2 traverse was the hardest thing I've ever done OMG terrifying. Maybe did it wrong?

Accidentally went left too early on Horseman. A bit scary and didn't extend enough, so much rope drag.

lol. Belayed from right of two trees on Dennis ledge? Got the two confused on the topo.

A few crux moves. P2 was a bit wet, and I went over the angled overhang instead of through it.

Rested once. Could probably have flashed if it weren't so dark and I could see the feet. 😢

Led with some pre-placed gear but backed up some of it and added my own. Not as bad as CC Route. Belayed follower from above.

Pretty difficult. Wouldn't want to lead yet. We used the big ring for belay and rappel, but don't do that. Go higher and there is spot for gear anchor. Big cam isn't necessary, but is a good idea.

Such a mess. Couldn't do 2nd move. Stupidly thought I didn't need big cams and left them behind. Had belayer send up two C4s on accessory cord so I could finish it.

Easier than Double Chin

Second roof is tricky/scary.

Started Shit or Go Blind but then finished on this, so "Shit or Go Picnic". In the dark.

Clean after a few attempts. Crimpy holds, especially one side crimp.

Tried the first move a few times without a rope, and Fran placed the first cam before bailing, but still counting as a flash. First few moves are very polished slippery glass feet.

Linked all pitches. Not bad.

Super fun route! Only had an hour in the gunks, and only top rope. Very glad I spent it here!

Exactly as described on the Mountain Project. Really lives up to the hype.

Easy, close to sunset so just P1. Followed & rapped in the dark.

Dirty, leaves, cold hands, pretty easy. Rapped off City Lights.

Good that we can see and hear each other for a first lead, but not the best places for gear

Easy and good enough gear for first lead, but can't hear or see each other, so Kate went off route

Did it in 1 pitch.

Pretty easy. Went right up to the tree instead of left as Gunks App shows. Anchor around tree branch was not great; would be bad if it broke. Better to wrap cord multiple times for friction.

Difficult but not scary difficult. Silas watching placements. One ugly but solid cam, one mediocre nut.

Led with Silas watching. Pretty good, easy. Slung a piton instead of clipping.

Very easy but still cool

Fun varied climbing. People who found the traverse hard to climb and protect went too high. Traverse right after the frog bulge. Trad anchor at the bottom of the dihedral. Last pitch can be linked but I decided not to do so for rope drag and encouraging the second.

technical moves down low that protect with small gear. The overhang is fun jug hauling but the protection is scarce so it's better to not spend too much time searching. One pitch with a 70m to the top.

One pitch with a 70m if you runout good sections for rope drag management. Fun times

More sustained than other similar grades around. Slightly polished. Plenty of pro.

One harder move down low with tricky pro. Then goes easily.

Best done in one pitch. plenty of protection.

Used it to descend multiple times with a partner that is generally not comfortable with risk without issue (ok... maybe a little bit of encouragements were needed.)

Mock leading, practice falling on gear during the Rock Warrior's clinic with Dustin. This is a nice climb to lead and fall on. Felt mostly 5.5ish

Toproped with Kaitlyn during the Rock Warrior clinic with Dustin. Had to hang on the face crux and before the roof. The roof's not too bad but I was pumped!

Approach shoes worked great.

Bailed early on P1 to climb something more classic (didn't have to leave any gear).

First Gunks lead, in hindsight I should've gotten on something easier to get a feel for the rock and pro but was too stoked. The start is incredibly glassy.

P1, amazing, clean rock with some fun movement. They definitely weren't kidding about that whole 'Gunks 5.6' thing.

We tried a couple of the variations in the 5.7 and 5.8 range. I set a top rope on a tree above. Easy to access. There was a crux around the second piton which stumped me for a few minutes since it was pretty bare, but then made my way to the left.

Really nice big vertical crack. Had my whole body inside the crack at one point. We also did a variation out to the right towards the top on some crimps.

Set up a top rope anchor directly above (on a tree). It was a fun route, some crimps, some underclings/sidepulls. Right next to Boston (5.5) so we climbed both on the same top rope.
