攀登 in Main Wall

Absolutely phenomenal line, up there with the Spartan for the best 5.7 in existence. Except this is 3 pitches of equal quality climbing. Sick corner and roof on p1, absurd runout arete face climbing exposure on p2, a chimney that you wish went forever into a pretty scary traverse on a single bent up piton into 40m of jug hauling on p3. P3 traverse absolutely scarier on second with the lack of pro but J powered through after hauling the pack through the chimney - smiles the whole way up the jug haul.

very hard for grade. incredible line, great climbing, bold. feel like an oldschool hardman on it. accidentally did the 5.8/+ variation by climbing the wide crack on 3rd pitch. for standard route, traverse right to the corner after the chimney, look for a piton

Did the 5.8 variation finish by accident, says hard to protect but managed OK... Did look nicer than the actual 5.7 corner though not sure Hamish agreed! Apparently the exposure was gnarled but I was too focussed to notice anything 😁

no prob! fun climb after so much trad'ing.

Loved this! Shame it was a bit cold, but a great way to end the day. Do the whale backwards for maximum fun.

More flakes, dikes, massive ledges, jugs, and amazing jams. Super exposed second pitch arête was so so good.

Lead pitch 2, probably the hardest of the 3 pitches. Mega-exposed up the arete, run-out with some 5.7 moves on long run-out. Awesome climbing on every pitch.

The first and the second pitches are fun. It's better to climb it in approach shoes. Start with headlamps to avoid traffic.
