Ascents of Les Pincettes

First shot after an exploratory session almost 12 months ago. Fun climbing to the crux, eventually managed to reach through the crux (would be harder with shorter arms). Stoked.

Repeat lap with friend.

Spent the first attempt for the day figuring out some beta for the top crux. Managed to get a few moves working, but was losing power to make it to the anchor. Retreated to rest up. Tied in for another attempt after half an hour, and I don't know how, but everything just flowed. Before I knew it, I was at the top, clipping the anchor with a serious case of Elvis leg, making it my first climb of the grade. The top crux is beautiful and delicate, requiring some finesse with the feet.

Got all the way up past the crux and to the anchor…but my fingers felt glassy and slippery after 2 days of climbing and I was too chicken to clip the anchor from the final crimps… I let go instead. Made sense in my head at the time for some reason 🤷🏻‍♂️

Undercling and thumb press worked for me

Great climbing till last bolt then it's on. Very thin and technical. Figured out some crux beta but fingers were done.

Loved this climb and the technical mid section. The last few moves have me stumped though, it's super awkward up there!

Dogged up, figured out my way through the first difficult section, stumped at the tiny pinch. Fun project.

Didn't manage the last move Gets very thin at the top ... moves at the top seem impossible.

first ever proper project. so cool to really have something that needs to be worked out. i think i know what to do maybe but we'll see next time.

Went 2nd shot, thin crux is beautiful

Fell at the thin crux, sequence was hard for me to figure out on onsight. By the time I figured it out, fingers and skin needed rest.

You have to be on and strong for those last 2-3 moves

Easiest of the 24s here I’m guessing. Still good though. Probably 23 if you’re tall/solid at crimping.

Jumped on lead to put the draws up, then had a top rope burn to work out the top. Some legends convinced me to go for the send after that, and got the tick!

Well that was a relief. May have gone further left than most but i think all that means is that i had to come back further right

Pulled a hold off while clipping the anchor and went flying! Claiming the onsight regardless. Missing hold wont change the grade at all.

A bolt by bolt description - Easy, Easy, Yeah alright, fine, easy, OKAY NOW. Took several massive whips before working out the beta. Nice to sail through the air again

Wasn't 100% when tying in, sent like a dream. Human mind is pancake mix. FIRST GRADE 24 WOOOOO!

Final move stumped me

Really good climbing, mid crux is not too hard (maybe 22ish) but the thin crux before the anchor felt impossible for me. The name of the climb really gets its meaning when you get there! Maybe next time!

Top crux is very tricky.
