Grade Route Gear style Crag Quality Date
5.4 Redrum (Redrum P1)
1
Trad 34m Adirondacks Very Good Sat 22nd Jul 2017
Lead as approach to "Sword". A fun pitch in it own right.

5.4 The Head Mucky Mucky Trad 17m Halton Region Average Sat 31st Aug 2013
Short, but nice enough climbing.

5.4 Front of the Pinnacle Trad 100m Bon Echo Classic Sat 25th Jul 2015
The nominal third pitch -- step-across and up to the anchor -- is very short, and could easily be linked with pitch 2. Except then you'd miss the chance to hang out on the top of a lovely pinnacle. Protecting the step across would be tricky if short.

5.4 One Pine Trad 45m Eardley Escarpment Very Good Mon 24th May 2010
5.4 fille du roi Trad 15m Montagne d'Argent Average Sat 21st May 2011
Hardest part is the opening moves. Guide shows a pair of bolts for an anchor -- but I couldn't find them, so slung a big tree.

5.4 Encore! mon lapin Trad 20m Montagne d'Argent Good Fri 22nd Apr 2011
Went easily, even when wet. The guide pictures bolts for the low traverse which don't appear to exist.

5.4 Magnet Trad 20m Squamish Very Good Wed 30th Aug 2017
5.4 Little Spark Trad 22m Squamish Average Wed 30th Aug 2017
5.4 Still Another Climb Trad 20m Eardley Escarpment Average Sat 11th May 2013
Did the initial part of the traverse a bit high, since the lower bit was covered in wet moss. Fun to do, but not a great climb.

5.4 Route B Trad 10m Eardley Escarpment Classic Sat 5th Sep 2009
5.4 Walt's Wall Route Mixed trad 76m, 2 Laramie Very Good Mon 6th Aug 2018
Lead P1 & P3, followed P2.

5.4 Short Job (Short Job P1)
1 5.4 130 ft
Trad 40m Shawangunks Good Sun 21st Apr 2019
5.4 Bunny Trad 43m Shawangunks Very Good Sun 31st Mar 2013
5.4 Belly Roll Trad 46m Shawangunks Good Sat 30th Mar 2013
5.4 Abbey Road Trad 28m Red Rock Good Sun 9th Dec 2012
First Red Rocks climb, just getting a feel for the rock.

5.4 Pine tree Crack Trad 60m Rumney Sat 6th Oct 2012
Easy fun climb. Good practice for multi-pitch trad, one non-intimidating terrain.

5.4 Knapsack Crack Trad 91m Lake Tahoe, California Side Good Wed 2nd Oct 2013
We did this in two long pitches, I took the second one and ran out of rope almost at the top... so had to belay just short, though really close enough that I just walked the finish.

Supertopo guide has this as 5.5, but I think the 5.4 rating on here is pretty reasonable.

5.4 The Goblet, Left Trad Yosemite National Park Average Tue 27th Sep 2016
Pro is a bit thin, especially the 2nd half.

5.4 The Goblet, Right Trad Yosemite National Park Average Sun 25th Sep 2016
5.4 Nameless Trad 18m Calabogie Average Tue 27th Apr 2021
This was a fun trad adventure, even anchored on a tree at the end!

Hard to judge quality... if cleaned up, would like rate good->very good, but currently really dirty, mossy, and with some loose blocks.

5.4 Sans Nom Trad 23m Val-David Classic Sat 7th Aug 2010
5.4 La Motte Trad 15m Montagne d'Argent Average Sun 22nd Jun 2014
Was a bit dirty.

5.4 5.4 PG Kenneth le Grand Inquisiteur Mixed trad 12m, 1 Montagne d'Argent Average Sun 22nd Jun 2014
A bit dirty -- doesn't seem to be climbed a lot.

The gear is not... great. Then again, the guide does list it as a top-rope.

5.4 Cool Corner Trad 65m Bon Echo Good Sun 26th Jul 2015
Lead some amalgam of this and Birthday Ridge. Did most of the first pitch, but near end went left to BR belay, then had to step down and around roof to get to the corner with much gear finagling to avoid evil rope drag. After corner, tried to stay right of BR in upper section -- not sure how well I succeeded. Was also damp, making the climbing more exciting.

5.4 Yellow Groove Trad 45m Bon Echo Good Sat 19th Sep 2009
Swung pitches, I led the 2nd pitch. The "groove" is a bit of a squeeze if carrying a pack.

5.4 The Nose Trad 25m Eardley Escarpment Good Wed 27th Jul 2011
The first pitch is fun with good climbing and decent protection -- though sometimes interesting to place. (I placed, I think, 4 tri-cams.)

As for relative difficulty...it is about right for a 5.4 in the Gatineau area -- but most such ratings are generally hard to sandag compared to other areas I have climbed.

5.4 Qawwli Trad Eardley Escarpment Average Sun 12th Jul 2009
Not sure exact date -- but sometime summer 2009.

5.4 The Wedge Mixed trad 25m, 1 Kingston Mills Average Sun 31st May 2009
My first trad lead. It seemed very run-out and hard to protect. (I might do better, now, or I might know better now. )

5.4 5.4 PG (another trad route) Trad 25m Eardley Escarpment Good Sat 17th Nov 2012
Required the occasional creative gear placement, and some gardening to place the gear, but generally a fun cimb with some good moves, that stays mostly clear of the adjacent sport lines.

5.4 Mountaineer's Crack Trad Rumney Average Sat 18th May 2013
I brought my rack, so wanted to use it for at least one climb. This, clearly, isn't climbed often -- the crack was full of leaves. It can take some surprisingly big pieces, too.

5.4 That's My Blood Trad Beaver Valley Average Sat 8th Jun 2013
Decent climbing, crack is broken enough that pro is not confidence inspiring. Lots of placements, just never quite sure they would hold. Also, a bunch of loose, mostly small, rock.

5.4 Double Lead Trad 25m Halton Region Classic Sat 31st Aug 2013
Surprisingly good climbing given the blocky-looking start. The exit left from under the roof is a wonderfully exposed, comitting move for a 5.4 (or 5.4+) climb.

I chose to finish right (apparently harder) to use the anchor's for Reg's route. The step across at the top is a bit tricky.

5.4 Flore Trad 25m Val-David Sat 26th Aug 2017
5.4 Exfoliation Trad 25m West Kootenays Very Good Thu 3rd Sep 2020
Nice climbing up exfoliating flakes and slabs above the ledge.

5.4 Gourgandine Trad 20m Lone star Good Sat 27th May 2023
Nice warm-up.

5.4 5.3 B-1 Trad 12m Joshua Tree National Park Very Good Mon 17th Dec 2012
Most recent guide lists this as 5.4, which feels far more reasonable than 5.1. A good climb with decent gear.

5.4 Poussinet au Tambour Mixed trad 38m, 1 Montagne d'Argent Average Sat 18th Jun 2011
A bit dirty, but otherwise nice climbing.

5.4 Jtree 5.1 Mixed trad 26m, 3 Lac Sam Good Sun 6th Nov 2016
FA.

5.4 5.5 Flaky Flake Trad 18m Calabogie Good Fri 17th Jul 2009
Fun. Easy pro for most of the route.

5.4 5.4 G 3.2 Trad 12m Adirondacks Sat 22nd Jul 2017
5.4 Rocketman Trad 96m Eardley Escarpment Very Good Sat 9th Apr 2011
Start of the first pitch feels quite committing for a 5.4 climb, above gear. Rest of climb is fine.

5.4 Cinch Crack Trad 15m Eardley Escarpment Very Good Sun 20th Oct 2013
Lead it at the end of the day. The over-hanging lay-back crack section is really intimidating on a 5.4. It does protect well.

At end of crack, step right to small triangular ledge -- there are two pitons at the back, to rappel off.

5.4 5.5 Babylone/Bagdad Trad 15m La montagne du Tranchant Very Good Sat 17th Jul 2021
5.4 Poussinet (Poussinet P1)
1
Trad 55m Montagne d'Argent Sun 23rd Apr 2017
5.4 5.3 Adam's Route Trad 25m Eardley Escarpment Sat 19th Sep 2020
5.4 Afternoon Delight Trad 40m Bon Echo Classic Mon 10th Aug 2020
It was an after-dinner delight for us. Sunset from the top was quite pretty.

5.4 The Canopy Trad 10m Eardley Escarpment Don't Bother Sun 18th Apr 2010
5.4 Bunny Corner Trad 10m Eardley Escarpment Don't Bother Sun 18th Apr 2010
5.4 Walkway Trad Joshua Tree National Park Average Mon 28th Sep 2015
5.4 Beginner's Blessing Trad Whitehorse Ledge Good Sun 2nd Aug 2015
Protects well for a climb at Whitehorse Ledge.

5.4 Left Face Trad Eardley Escarpment Sat 26th Jul 2008
5.4 Left Arete Trad Eardley Escarpment Sat 26th Jul 2008
5.4 Easy Jam Trad 40m Laramie Average Tue 7th Aug 2018
5.4 5.5 PG Regular Route Trad 240m Adirondacks Very Good Mon 8th Oct 2012
After doing about the first 1.5 pitches (in a single push), we looked at the time and decided to back off. Other two rappelled from the anchor. I moved the rope to be slung over a horn, cleaned the anchor and rapped from the horn. One of my more nervous rappels.

5.4 5.5 R Boston Trad 15m Shawangunks Sun 31st Mar 2013
Leading on Trevor's rack, and he didn't have the gear I wanted for this climb. Oh well.
