Excellent suggestion from JT to combine these routes. Makes for a great pitch of pulling hard. Loved this route, although SM has to be the most sandbagged 24 thus far. As a route this would be solid 26 IMO.

24 | ★★★ Honour Among Thieves | 30m, 3 | ★★ Very Good
Superb, slopey and difficult climbing. Felt like 4 Castle Hill boulder problems stacked on top of each other. Had no chance on the onsight. Easily 25 or even 26.

24 | ★★ The Passenger - with Paul Frothy Thomson | 55m, 6 | ★★ Very Good
Very low end 24 if it is indeed that grade. Cool slopey climbing whereby the hard bits are over in the first 3 bolts and the rest is varied and interesting.
Single cams up to 0.75 camalot is all the gear you'll need.

24 | ★★ Bloodnut - with Paul Frothy Thomson | 25m | ★ Good
I'm guessing this is the route 'Moonarie on a Shoestring' from the guide.
Cool climbing and interesting crux albeit with enough choss to subtract a few stars.

26 | ★★★ Ape and Away - with Paul Frothy Thomson | 40m | ★★★ Mega Classic
Now that is a route I can get behind! Burly, steep crack-fu leading into intense face climbing. Best I have done at Moonarie to date. Ascent with gear in place.
With gear in i would grade it low end 27. |

25 | ★★★ Durban Poison - with Paul Frothy Thomson | 45m, 7 | ★★★ Classic
Red point with gear in. I can appreciate the status of the route but can't say I really rate steep slabs. 80m rope gets you down comfortably.

The Ramparts | ||||||
24 | ★★★ Fingernickin' - with Paul Frothy Thomson | 100m | ★★★ Classic
P1 only. Screwed the OS with a pesky footslip. Such a quality route that would be at home in any go-to crack climbing area.
Should be noted that end of P1 is a double ring rap, not what the guide book suggests.

Flying Buttress | ||||||
22 | ★★ Swooping Pterodactyls - with Paul Frothy Thomson, Gerry Narkowicz | 75m, 11 | ★★ Very Good
P1 only. Great moves and a variety of climbing on quality rock. Very taipan-esque. 35m rap gets you back to grade.
|
||||||
23 | ★★ Loaded Bowel - with Paul Frothy Thomson | 25m, 2 | ★ Good
Pretty well what it looks like, in reality a short section of climbing. Very cryptic crux that without chalk would be a tricky onsight. 30m rap from ledge.
